n0Mad
I know there are a lot of DJs on this board and while you deal mostly with audio and goths tend to hide in the dark, hopefully a few of you know about lights. Let's say all I need to do is dim a few par cans. Then do I really need a dmx controller, or just some sort of dimmer controller? Let's say I also want to fire a strobe and control a fog machine. Will a regular dimmer controller handle that, or then would I need dmx? Now lets say I also need to control when solenoids operate on pneumatic systems. Do I need to program that through a dmx controller or will something else work? So, if I don't need dmx, what would you recommend? If I do need dmx, what would you recommend? Brands? Models? Would you recommend hardware or software? Brands? Models? In addition to a controller, what other things do I need? Cables and type? Relay packs? And once I have everything I need, how does it all hook up and work? I don't plan on using any intelligent lighting so my controller doesn't need a joystick, though maybe someday I'll pick up a laser in which case (depending on the model) I might need a joystick. Anyway, let me know what you know and if you're ever working a club some night and will be running lights, can I come by and shadow you and pick your brain? n0Mad
Numerous things from a couple haunted things at my buddy's house next year for Halloween, all the way up to complete lighting system for a variety show.
