n0Mad
Does anybody use air compressors for tools or machinery? Anybody work with pneumatic pistons/cylinders, solenoids, and other valves? Anybody construct their own compressed air gadgets? I have a few projects I want to work on next year and I'm thinking pneumatics is the way to go so is anyone willing to tutor me in some basics? amalthea23
You know, we own an industrial compressor and the only thing I know is to turn it on and it gets loud and shoots air for me, lol.
candyman
Are we talking small robotic items or something on a vehicle? For the basics I would hit the books or look it up on the internet if you are going to tinker. Getting the basics from me or someone else on line might not be the best way to do it. I could help you set up shop air in person but the translation on the web isn't always the best. If you are going for small robotic items I would suggest small electrical motors as long as weight for the moving parts is low.
n0Mad
Haunted house type stuff primarily. Pop up zombie heads, skeletons rattling chains, air bursts, etc. But, I'm also looking to maybe make some homemade confetti cannons and use compressed air in lieu of squibs for bullet hits in video and such. I bet Reaper has some advice for you, sweetie. After all, he has that living dead chick in the back of his hearse.

There's a house in Berkley that gets decorated as the "Berkley Boneyard". I believe they use pneumatics to pop up creatures in the yard in addition to electrics. Google it. Maybe you can write them? I have a compressor and a bunch of tools if you want to play...

If he doesn't know how, he can direct you to someone who does. As for me, I haven't used impact tools for a while. Been wanting to get a compressor and airbrush when things settle down to paint the Aztec pattern on a model of the Enterprise.
