Personal Protection

Keeping on the topic of physical well being, I would make the logical link to personal/self-protection.

Does anyone else carry concealed? Or just maybe home protection? Would not mind seeing what people carry/keep at home. Could be an interesting topic, seeing as gun owners are very passionate about their rights, etc.

I'll start it off.

I carry an H&K 45, and I use Winchester Ranger-T, 10 in the mag 1 in the chamber.

I have deadly hands, & impeccable aim with ashtrays...I never had enough crap to need a pishto, but recently, because of the buildup of noise making equipment in the house...we have decided to pick one out sooner than later...good thing the boys at Lodge have some to try out..& a favored range as well..I needs to test them before I buy, I heard...

For sure. Just like a car, it' best to drive it before you buy it. If it does not feel right and comfortable in your hands, it will do more harm to you than the bad guy(s). If it feels awkward in your hand it's not for you. There are many weapons out there, no rush needed.

Guns scare me. There are way too many, crazy, ass trigger happy people in the world. It's unfortunate, that we need them. Where I grew up, people had no shame on pulling guns on a room full of 12 year old kids.

I indeed carry. Usually a S&W snubbie .38 or a Walther 9mm. Anything bigger just seems excessive to me.

I dont carry but might get my permit. I usually have a knife on me and am deadly accurate throwing it. I do have a arsenal at hom. I have an SKS assault rifle with two 40 round clips and one 30 round and tons of hollow points. I have a 30-06 with a simmons scope that Im very accurate with. I have a brittish 303. A Winchester 12 gauge pump. A 12 gauge double barrel with a shortened barrel. A 12 gauge single shot. A 16 gauge single shot. A combo 410 and .22 single shot. A .22 semi auto rifle.A reproduction 1883 colt.45 pistol and a semi auto .25 pistol.

I have always wanted to get a handgun but I can't carry it with me into work and I can't leave it in my car because if it got stolen, I'd be liable. For now, I will stick with KM.

Just a boot knife but I have been considering a pistol...I use them alot but don't own one yet. I have taken enough Combatives lessons to take care of myself in most situations anyways...

I like the XD alot, but for some reason that grip safety really gives me trouble...

Michigan is a SHALL ISSUE state. Therefore, you can take a class if you are not a first responder, police, military.. take that graduation documentation to your respective city's city hall, pay on avg 50 bux, and boom, ccw. Carry concealed.

Due to mental illness issues, I'm not allowed to carry but I've grown up around guns. I live "up north" so guns and gun safety were just a normal part of grown up.

I take offense to that. Just because a person has been diagnosed with a mental illness doesn't mean they are going to shoot someone. I've had to clean up after two gun related suicides, so I'm the last person that would shoot someone for the fuck of it.

It's a great knife! It has all the features I want, feels great, works well, and is pretty cheap to boot. I have the big one that I carry everywhere except work, and the little one that I carry at work. Both of them together still cost a fraction of the Benchmade I used to have, and honestly, I think I like the Gerber better. I am very, very picky about knives and that Gerber Fastdraw is perfect for me.

Kicking/kneeing someone in the groin seems to help. That's all the "personal protection" I have at the moment.

If I'm packing heat or sharps, I'm sure as hell not going to tell anyone I don't know well and personally what I've got-- be it on my body, or in my collection....and usually, not even then. When it comes to protecting oneself, the less people who know your methods of defense, the better...whether they be friend, or foe.

P.S. My granny once told me never to show my teeth, unless I'm going to bite-- and I am a firm believer in this. You won't see any weapon I own, unless you're at the wrong end of it.

I would agree that anonymity is always a good position, but stating you have a weapon, or people thinking you have a weapon is pretty effective.

For example: States that allow CCW have seen a dramatic drop in armed robbery/assault. When the bad guys know the good guys are packin, they tend to leave them alone.
