last night they made it sound and look like it was 3 blocks. now what i am reading makes the fire sound "not as bad" as what i was watching last night. when they were doing helicopter views that fire was MASSIVE. but i mean for it to burn from like 10 pm to 5 am - that's just damn crazy.

yeah watching the news and all the burning it sure looked like hell.

Looks like the Nain Rouge struck again.

Anybody remember hearing about that? The Detroit fire back in the 1800s? It was believed that the Nain Rouge, aka Red Dwarf caused it.

Red Dwarf/ Nain Rouge is a 'Brownie-like' creature that was reported as having the appearance of an old man. It's not just myth either, many people have seen him. Usually shortly thereafter, something bad happens......

Here's some info...... http://members.tripod.com/~mainorg/nain.html

On the eve before Detroit city reports that they have chosen to close their Dept of Culture and Tourism in order that they can "save money", yet another important building is lost, although this time to normal rot and disrepair.

-Saves them the trouble of knocking it down I suppose...and it frees up all of those millions of dollars the federal govt provides them for rennovating these places for things like an SUV for the mayor's wife or destitute whores for the mayors parties.

i can't believe that in a place so callous as Detroit that this type of thing is reported for any other reason than for the ratings the 'shock value' of large fires grab (the bright, flashing tendrils of the inferno, the great cloud of smoke, the crashing of walls of brick and mortor, etc). It's a normal fucking day here.

I'm not really native to Detroit, per se, but I do know that it has a ton of history to it. It bites when you hear about a fire and it's near something historical, the only thing you can think of is hoping that nothing precious is damaged or lost.
