Black Sunday9
the best Smiths album was the first one but the Queen is Dead was good too. I forget the names of the songs but almost everything on that first album was great. What is the name of the one that goes...."and no I never had a job because I'm too shy...." that one I liked alot. The Queen Is Dead is spectacular. One of my favorite things to do is throw open all the windows in the house, put on my Queen Is Dead record as loud as possible, lie on the floor and just let the sound wash over me. cleansing. ahh. I think the Queen is Dead is definitely their masterpiece, with all of the rest of them tying for seconds. They were one of very few bands who never made a bad record. But Cemetery Gates and......there is a light that never goes out, frankly mr. shankly and the boy with the thorn in his side are catchy songs. what's the second song on meat is murder? it goes "i walk home alone and as I walk home alone"...... ???????? I havn't listened to the Smiths since about 1990 though.
Paper Hearts
I'm not sure man, I know the lyrics you mean and also knew the first lyrics you mentioned, it's just that i do not have Meat Is Murder w/ me. I do have the self-titled album (on CD) with me and listened to it for you, but i missed the part you were looking for and so couldn't post it for you. My personal favorite is The Queen is Dead~especially Big Mouth Strikes Again. From the Self titled album, I've been in love with Suffer Little Children, for years. Proper to point out though (realising that you are aware, as well) The Smiths, Morrissey, were not, are not "goth" music, either...

Paper Hearts
I know, i know. I just thought since we made Morrissey his own thread on DGN i should just say that... I'm still yet to find any of Pete Doherty's new things from Baby Shambles, and thus far, nothing at all from Libetines available on vinyl here, that I've seen. Just the (self-titled) (Mick Jones produced) album and two related singles have been around. I've heard the band intends to go on without Pete, hopefully they make their things available here and hopefully Pete's Baby Shambles things come out here too, I've read good reviews. I'll check some of the Brit' tabloid sites and see if i can get the latest rumors...
Paper Hearts
*I've found nothing new, looks pretty bleak for Pete's future with the Libertines~I'm not too confident in Carl leading the band...Here's a link to Pete's latest though (below old article excerpt)... Doherty was asked to leave The Libertines after walking out of a controversial rehab programme at Thailand’s Thamkrabok Monastery. Today he described the experience: “I’d only come out of the Priory a couple of days earlier so I’d been through all the shakes, vomiting and (sleepless) nights with cold turkey. Foolishly I didn’t do any research about Thailand before I went, and it was hardcore. “On the third day I left and went to Bangkok. I booked into a hotel where they offered room service of heroin with my bacon and eggs. I told them I didn’t have any money but they said I could have it on tab. I notched up a £280 bill in three days. If I’d done the same amount of brown in England it would have cost me thousands.” The Libertines are pressing ahead with live commitments and the release of their second album without Doherty, but have given assurances that he will be welcomed back as soon as he cleans up. However, Doherty said today: “There are three things that I know a bit about in my life and that’s QPR, my guitar and drugs. I know QPR are the best football team in the world, my guitar is the most beautiful thing I own and that I don’t take enough drugs to kill me. It isn’t drugs that I need to get rid of; it’s the demons that fill my head. Once I have come to terms with my demons, maybe I’ll be able to get clean.” http://www.babyshambles.net/
