Did you misspell "best" on that flyer? Or is "bese" a word I am unaware of?

This sounds like an interesting attempt at keeping Friday nights relevant, is the tribute night consisting of only Depeche Mode music or Depeche Mode and Depeche Mode inspired music? Kind of curious. Also, is this something that is going to continue going forward? Should I be looking forward to the Air Supply tribute night? :p

Depeche Mode related attire? WTF?

Love Depeche Mode but a costume contest? Who can dress the most new wave/ 80s synth?

People are just going to come in suits and sunglasses, lol.

Who is the "guest" DJ?

regardless, play the Shiny Toy Guns remake of Stripped, as its pretty good.

Zomg, you guys are so great :) I always know I can look for that dgn enthusiasm  Ahem.

I don't think it's really about keeping anything "relevant" per se. Just an idea for something different to do for an evening. Partially inspired by the long-gone video appreciation nights that Luna used to have, and also thinking of another way to highlight different bands once a month. If you don't like it, don't come. Seriously.

I know it's wicked easy to sit around on a message board and critique and criticize those who are actually doing something to try and provide entertainment and a good time for everyone... I just wish I could be that cool to hate on everything all the time.

well every Friday I have been there, CC has been practically dead. So relevant is a proper word. I never said anything about it being a bad idea and all my questions were honest ones (the last one was a joke, you know, those statements people with a sense of humor like to tell, also marked with a smiley). Finally, yeah the first statement is kind of jackass-y (but also somewhat honest, maybe "bese" is a word) but that kind of mistake drives me up a wall. If you want me to help, send the fliers my way so I can proof read them before making them live. Some basic QA is all I am asking for there.

Thought I would try it on for a size, feels pretty good, I can see why other DGN kids do it.

I never said anything about relevance. If I dont like it, I DONT COME. And I said I like Depeche Mode, I just dont understand the dress theme being "depeche mode". Saying that I dont try and provide entertainment and good times is a pretty bold statement and also a bold faced LIE. I promote damn near everything I can and am pretty vocal about it :)

I didn't make the ad, Sean took initiative on his own to help out. I noticed the mistake as well and messaged him about it. Mistakes like that drive me up the wall as well, but the effort was majorly appreciated.

The whole idea (as well as some other things we've planned) is just to do something different and fun. So far, the response elsewhere has been pretty enthusiastic and positive. I don't expect everyone to participate in these night, obviously. But if you want to, fucking-a! That's great. We're just trying to offer a variety of different things to people.

She was referring to my comment there about relevance. granted she probably didn't need to reference your quote directly if her comment was not directed at just your comment. Just a thought.

You are vocal AND entertaining. Double-threat guy :peanutbutterjellytime:

Like I was just saying via text, I've been to some pretty kick-ass dm parties before. Guys go all out to dress up like Dave Gahan (down to drawing on his tattoos) or Martin Gore (complete with glitter and angel wings) Girls deconstruct and reconstruct dm shirts into cute little club outfits.

...

I realize that, and that is something that is to be appreciated. But, spelling errors still bother me. For example, one of my favorite magazines is Skeptic Magazine, which is primarily written and produced by volunteers. I still find the massive number of grammatical and spelling errors irritating. It's even worse when it's in a book.

I have a menu from a Chinese place that advertises "Crap Rangoon." I'm saving that thing forever.

We played a show once where our band name was misspelled. Haha.

Sean is doing a good turn here, of course; let's pitch in our efforts to make sure everything's good from here on out as far as promotion and advertisement go. Oh, yes, and attendance :)

bese n. 1. an old wooden ship used by Martin Gore during the late 80's 2. the product of a misspelling of the word 'best' by a guy named Sean

Love the idea, my only question is whether to call the DM shot special a 'Personal Jesus' or an 'Its No Good' lol

Just wear leather straps or a suit.

"Enjoy the Silence" is what will happen if you have too many shots :)

Personally, I could go for an "Only When I Lose Myself", or maybe, if I get too awesome, a "New Dress"... wait, I did that wrong :p

On that note I will add:

Everyone needs to play it safe when its time to leave, whether you are "taking a ride with my best friend" or "your behind the wheel".

..."finally Ive found that I belong here" is NOT something you want to sing in the drunk tank =D

    • ~~~~~ Yeah, thank you for the check-in.   Happy to say it was all a misunderstanding.  But she pulled out her "ghetto" and that's when things went South.  I get very professional minded when I enter into situations like that because when someone starts bring the court into conversations, I'm in court 2 times a year, every year, so don't go there with me because I will get legal all over you.   She did try to change what she thought she might have said, but I had to call her on it because it's all in written text.  Then she apologized and we were able to have a decent conversation.   I know I joke about me talking so much that people don't hear what I say except for keywords that they are looking for, but that is exactly what happened here.  She heard "payment", "money" and "help out".  It was crazy.  I literally had to have the entire conversation all over again, but I definitely condensed it to only address those 3 words.   Things are back on track, but I emphasized that if she every needed clarification for anything, please say something first instead of jumping to conclusions, then questioning that conclusion, then answering that conclusion, then getting upset at the answer and taking it out on someone who doesn't have a clue what the San Juan Hill just happened.   But this is exactly the reason I do everything with a paper trail.

    • I'm glad  that yesterday's day at work is long gone now. There was a very strong unusual energy that I felt, and couldn't get done with the day fast enough. It wasn't  the job at all. I just felt like I really needed to keep my mouth shut, to keep me from getting in situation(s) that probably wouldn't have ended well for me.
    • You can trust anyone you want.  The only question is whether or not they're deserving of that trust. No risk = no reward.  As such you have to let yourself be vulnerable sometimes and realize that all people will let you down eventually whether it's intentional or not.  The frequency that it happens is what's important.
    • Sorry, I don't check this as often as I should. Anyway document everything (although it sounds like @Trene4000already has been from her post.) It's okay to cry and break down, but not in front of them.  Never give them the satisfaction of seeing you crack.  If anything I'd go out of my way to piss them off, but I don't like being that guy either (and as such I'm not very good at it, except sometimes when I'm not intending to be.) I try to only help those whom deserve it, but that's often hard to judge.  Seeing how someone treats other people is a pretty good indicator of whether or not they're worthy.  Sociopathic narcissistic asshats are very much not worthy. I hope things are going well for you guys.
