StormKnight (1)
CNN article regarding the shortage of drugs. List of drugs in shortage. Clicking on the drug will give a precis on what companies have to say regarding their production and why. A couple have been recalled for production/contamination issues. Some have been short due to increased demand, or due to the lack of starting components. Quite an alarming amount is simply because of profit motives, i.e., there not much of a profit margin in making them. Morphine, midazolam, lasix, for example, are dirt cheap. Several of the companies have withdrawn their preparations from the market for undisclosed reasons. Many of the medications (epinepherine, amiordarone,) are used in codes, emergency settings, and pediatrics. Free market at work.

Further evidence of a so called health care market showing how little they care about people and more about profit. But no no no, according to some - corporations are not like that and the million dollar for profit health care industry here in the States is better than any of the other industrialized nations on Earth. Yea, to believe that I truly believe you'd need a prescription. The system needs a major over haul.
Troy Spiral (13)
Interesting info. I actually was told Midrine/Epidrine (acetaminophen, isometheptene and dichloralphenazone compound) was "discontinued" like 2 years ago but read online that it was not, and asked the pharmacy to check again and it mysteriously re-appeared. (although it didnt help for the headaches anyway) Diazapam Injections? Never even occured to me. Wow wish i could get it in that form. (just about everything bothers my stomach, along with waiting a dang HOUR for it to work isnt so fun) wish i could get all my meds in injectable form.
