:devil The one thing Icannot stand with my line of work is it attracts wasps horneets and yellowjackets! I am allergic to these damn things and I think they basically have no use; except to sting you! I also know other people who have this same problem. Here is what I think: wasps always build there nests in the most inconvenient places. let alone wasps look evil while in flight! bald or white faced hornets build there nests in trees or under roof eves of houses or other structures. We had one on one of our houses last year. but got rid of it with a gallon of raid.Yellowjackets usually build under the ground or in the walls of buildings. What you might think that the small hole in the ground is a chipmunk or snake hole might be a bee's nest. When I find one of these in the ground I will mark it with an orange cone; then at night puor gasoline down the hole and light it on fire; then dig up the remains the next day or two.

I'm allergic to the bastards too, and every year hornets build a nest on my house, and every year I'm the one that has to take care of it , and guess what, every year I get stung and swell up and have to go the the E.R. I hate it.

I love bee's because they make honey, but your right about these other pestulence type stinging beasts. They don't do much good do they.

You can get kits and keep them with you if you are allergic.....

if you don’t have insurance or issues with docs another thing which can help lessen your problems is a paste of MSG or meat tenderizer applied directly to the sting after you do the norm of scraping it out with a credit card, holding an onion on it etc.....you do need to apply the paste immediatly however, the poison these critters inject is protein based and if you break down the protein you can lessen your reaction and thus hopefully save your life.

It is not fool proof and if you are severely allergic i would suggest going to a doc and or picking up the kits they have, but for those who may not know or who don’t have a kit this can help allot. I use it when i get stung and I usually save my self from going in to the hospital, this usually take me from have a swollen throat to just some minor annoying hives in the general area where i was stung.

I have a great bee story...

I went to my moms, and she had just moved this truck out of the driveway that had been sitting there for like 2 years. So I parked there. I went in and hung out for about an hour, and when I came out, my truck was COVERED in billions of Yellow jackets. I swear to god, there had to be a billion of them, there was so many of them, they were crawling all over eacheother in clumps. It was the most horrifying thing I EVER saw. Not to mention, my windows were open....so they were on the inside as well. Luckily, Grampa who is fearless, had a professional bug sprayer gas sprayer? something... and was able to get them out.

It turns out that the truck that was parked there had thier Nest in it, and thought my truck was thier nest.

TRUE STORY. Definately have a bee phobia now. this was like a year ago.

Oh man...that would freak me out SO much. I have a major bee phobia because of all these allergic reactions I used to have as a kid. When I took neuroethology, we covered foraging in honeybees. My teacher used to show us videos for every critter we covered in class. Well, I'm so afraid of bees that even the videos and slides of the bees skeeved me out a bit...
