where to find synthetic green hair

Recommended Posts

Try Cherry Beauty Supply on the south side of 696 on 10 Mile Road near Coolidge in Oak Park.

I believe there are others scattered around Metro Detroit. That's where I have heard the people at Noir send those who inquire.

You won't find exotic colors OUTSIDE Detroit, generally speaking. HOWEVER, there happens to be one Detroit-owned store located in Eastgate Shopping Center at Frazho and Gratiot called Sunny Beauty Supply, and they do have green.

As racist as it sounds, and this is in all actuality, the reason you can't find exotic synthetic hair color is because many of the beauty supply stores in the suburbs cater to preppy girls who tend to be Caucasian, so let's say they like plain hair. It's very common, however, in African-American cultures for women's hair to be extravagantly multi-colored. Better taste imo . Hence why I would never get products from places so generic and preppy like Sally Beauty supply because there is no point in doing your hair for hours to make it look exactly like it did when you got up (my opinion on preppy-girl hair, technically not fact ) So green hair doesn't sell out in the suburbs but it can't stay on the shelf long enough in urban areas.

If you don't have any luck at Sunny Beauty Supply and don't share the same penchant for seedy neighborhoods as I do, order from www.doctoredlocks.com . Any other online hair supplier is a waste of time and money, imo. I really need to get back into making pieces myself, I was starting to be an awesome wigger.

Thank you for the replies I'll call cherry and sunny too see if either of them have green braiding hair in stock since it's a bit of a drive. And ya black stores do have the best but even the store in pontiac I went to didn't have green (but at least it had a nice blue lol).

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Sunny has green, they did the last time I went in there. The only thing though is whether they have the exact shade you're looking for.

I'm just pleased at punch that I finally got to get at you for something. Finally there's proof that you aren't totally Chuck Norris.

Nooo...I'm sorta turning into Gary Busey now...

  • 2 weeks later...

Just finished them last night :D

not the best pic (and still adding wires to them) but I'm all excited these were a bitch to make

Nice craftmanship, for sure . They're practically perfect, glad you found green after all.

No you're not the only one into it, believe me, and you're welcome. I think my favorite sub-genres fashion-wise would be rivethead, cyber-industrial, and lolita. I also dig on some steampunk, but that's more of my boyfriend's thing. I make dreadfalls (and other hair-oriented stuff) too. Was on hiatus for a few years but recently have been picking back up on some of my projects.

Yeah those dread falls are a pain in the ass to deal with, I've dabbled in my own crafts. I've been to Cherry several times to get odd colours.. Annoyed that I ordered bright red a long time ago and they never called me back. I can totally understand why they charge an arm and a leg for those falls online. The materials are nominal, but the labour is astronomical.

You did a fantastic job. :)
