Destroit
ROFL I liked the one about Black Swans. The males will pair up with another male, but then one of them will go and mate with a female just so he can have her lay and egg. Once she lays the egg, the males chase her away and raise the offspring as their own . Such a chotch move, but effective none-the-less. ROFL I liked the one about Black Swans. Troy Spiral (13)
It completely has to do with dominance, not legit homosexuality. Just noticed this like 12 years late... HEY! Don't be discounting the good times of dominance AND sexuality all in the same event. *shakes head*

Pigs, dolphins, swans, squirrels, various monkey/chimp species, humans.... (probably more, who knows, I can't remember) all have sex because it feels good. All are known to have homosexual relationships. Cats and dogs can form non-sexual bonds with each other- as stated earlier- (along with any other fuzzy/non fuzzy creatures), but I agree: humping is about dominance. Simon Bar Sinister
yes, non-human mammals (and birds) do the ghey, too. here's an example: http://io9.com/5830973/gay-finches-mate-for-life
Troy Spiral (13)
Granted the above statements about dominance are the vast majority, but, yes is the actual answer the the question. If for no other reason than genetic mutation can cause an otherwise male or female non-human mammal to be sexually attracted (legitimately) to the same sex without environmental factors (although they often play a role in the few "real" cases.) It is totally within the realm of possibility to have an "actually gay" version of any living species that uses hetero-gametes (male or female cells as opposed to having no differentiation) even just the cells can get confused and become "gay" although again, very rare almost a win-the-lotto type rare in the case of just the cells themselves not the sum of the whole organism. Although I've never read anything about female gametes becoming "gay" I've read specific stuff about male gametes becoming gay. (actually sort of comical to read about sperm trying to fertilize themselves.) Went round-and-round on this subject for hours on end with my best friend from high school who turned out to be gay, and we got deep into this 'what is gay' (and what is male or female) from a scientific standpoint. Fierce Critter
I disagree with the stance that when it happens, it's all about dominance and not true homosexuality, but I don't feel like debating it. My Marty is our gay-cat-in-residence. He's this big, fluffy, blonde and his favorite boy-toy is Fletcher, a smaller orange tabby. He couldn't care less about any of the other cats - male or female. Fletcher pretty much isn't interested in Marty at all, except on the rare occasion when Marty straddles him, he can flip Marty, pin him down and pull clumps of his fur out and eat it. I'm proud of my big, gay cat son.
