He actually went to Harvard..just so you know. Carry on.

It doesn't show... I would hope a Harvard grad would at least have a rudimentary understanding of how the tides work... and at the very least that other planets have moons.

What I personally love is how much of the Current Events forum is now one person from a known political party posting something derrogatory against the other party, but not SAYING they're doing it for that reason directly, and then other known members of said party join the immature game of inane slander for no constructive reason until members of the opposing party become irritated. Rinse, wash, and repeat.

Whatever happened to legitimate, civilized debate...?

And members from both political parties have been guilty of doing this in the past, not just one obviously. It's human nature I suppose, hell that's really why nothing gets done in politics either. I may have even been guilty of it at one point .

In that case, carry on with the bantering...

ROFL. "Bread goes in, toast comes out. YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN THAT"

O'Reilly must be stupid if he doesn't know about Toaster Jesus, that's totally grade school shit right there. He performs miracles with mere margarine and can heal you with one scrape across your illness-laden body with the back side of his Holy Butter Knife!

The ratings for his show, are higher then anything else on in that time slot, and have been for a few years now.

If he's so dumb, then how did he, and how does he continue to accomplish this ?

Explain that. :pirate:

As H.L. Mencken once said, "no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."

Since when is intelligence related to popularity?

Galileo was almost executed, wasn't forgiven until centuries after his death for being right.

Einstein was ridiculed.

Real intelligence isn't blatant.

Cunning, I'll give both sides. Both sides' talking heads have it. It takes some basic understanding of the fact as a group people can be gullible, and find the primal fear which both sides use in one form or another to move people to their point. And a certain level of charisma to sway people.

But both sides can't see the third edge of the sword; the truth which is somewhere in between the two. Both sides may start to see it when they realize the other side has some valid points, and their own viewpoints could very well be wrong.

Thus is the inflexibility of any extremist. The preference is to be comfortable in dogma, which is what happens when the extremes fail to question their own beliefs regularly, and maybe, just maybe, realize they could be wrong. Took the Catholic Church years to even consider Galileo was right.

Personal recommendation: Don't let either side sway you into losing your ability to question and think critically for yourself.

My roommate, Timata, made an AMAZING one this morning, so awesome that my cackling woke up my boyfriend who was still upstairs sleeping. He submitted it to memebase.com, so once it's posted there with his name properly credited, it's SO going here .

You equate ratings with intelligence. I don't.

Guy went to Harvard and doesn't know about tides? You can't explain that!!

I'm not sure if that makes Bill even sadder then he already is or of that makes Harvard sad for having taught him so little, beyond how to take advantage of conservative audiences.

It's not Harvard's fault no information made it into his cranium.

I think Bush went to Harvard (or was it Yale?) but that may be a coincidence.
