So...11+ countries in the middle east are going nuts

Recommended Posts

It doesn't matter what was in the no-fly zone on paper...paper doesn't work in a wartime situation especially one with all the weird stuff like this.

Reports now are that a French jet took a hit...mostly because THAT took place over Tripoli which is NOT held by the rebels...not even close. French planes also fired the first shots signaling UN involvement and the 20 planes that were attacking were over Tripoli which again is not held by the rebels. Also, with the no-fly zone there were no other planes in the air besides the UN because you don't put your crappy airforce up against UN shit.

It also doesn't matter what rules the no-fly zone has in place because when the country you impose it on breaks it AND the it's own damn cease fire after they declare no mercy on their own people do you REALLY think that conventional paper pushing of laws at them is going to work? No. They were moving large columns of armor, batteries of large artillery pieces, and were putting up radar bands that were no longer defensive in nature...yep I will put money on them not wanting to work things out or listen at that point...

Also, think about the rebel capability to actually shoot down military aircraft. While handheld pieces are common it seems kinda weird that they would let Gaddafi and his forces blast away for weeks while all this time the had the power to fire back.

What...did some guy just say "oh man dudes...I totally spaced on having this handheld surface-to-air missile when they were beating our forces to a bloody pulp...sorry"

This whole situation just looks bad...I am making sure all of my gear is ready and I am really hoping that they can come up with some ballistic plates for my armor carrier...

I did think about rebel capacity. Do you honestly believe that 100% of the military defectors did not confiscate equipment?

Is that base they are holding outside of Ajdabiyah just a figment?

What about all the military sites and ammunition depots that the Loyalists claim to have tried bombing, where they all void of ordnance?

I have absolutely zero problems believing that the rebels have surface to air capabilities just like I have absolutely no problems believing that if they are just and want the world to be on their side, then they wont be provoked into breaking a cease fire.

The cease fire was already broken...it was broken the moment a shell left the tube of an artillery piece...it was broken the moment a Libyan tank moved its treads forward. The cease fire is gone and so is the no-fly zone because IF that was any jet besides a French jet then it was a breach.

If we are breaking regulations doing any of this I REALLY want to see what Gaddafi is guilty of. If this breaks down to a war then toss all of that out the window. There is no script and no regulations or creeds from another time can ever account for all that happens. It is not as cut and paste as we would like it which sucks...but that is how it is.

Personally, I would have sat all night at a computer trying to program my missile to fly straight up Gaddafi's rancid sphincter.

There is absolutely no doubt that Gaddafi is scum, I've known that since the late 80's.

My issue is, I don't want to see Americans dieing for Libyans.

Libyans need to die for Libyans, they need to destroy those holding the shackles of tyranny.

A peaceful resolution to a civil war brought about by outside forces does nothing but insure that there will be future insurrection.

The people have to show the loyalists that they are the ones to fear not the UN.

Yeah I completely agree with that. However, as long as the UN stands that will never happen. Hell, if the UN was never started we would probably never have entered Vietnam, Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the other little ones I am forgetting. In each conflict the UN had interest in the country, then they sent their own police force, then they declared it a crisis and called for arms and money, then they realized that we have the arms and the money all placed to where we can react quickly, then things went wrong and the UN pulled out leaving us there and pointing the finger at us.

We need to break free of the UN or else we will continue to draw negative fire for things we did not do own our own. The only problem is that they know that 1,000 of their UN troop can't even do HALF the work that only 100 or less of our own can do.

You are giving UN forces too much credit dude, 1k of them can't accomplish what 100 American Army Brats can do with only militia level resources.

Oh I already factored that in there...the army trains me and then has civilian workers do my job...which is apparently cheaper than actually giving me tools and parts to do my job so I don't forget any of my skills.

However, I do love their powder blue helmets that wouldn't even stop and high velocity BB...if you can't be effective you might as well be stylish and these ACU's don't cut it!

  • 4 months later...

the battle for Tripoli is on; rebels closing in from east and west. fighting within the city limits.

unconfirmed rumours that Gadhafi has fled the country. again, unconfirmed.

oh, and I heard on the BBC World Service last night that the Turkish government is thinking of sending in their military to take out the Assad regime in neighboring Syria. that was 15 hours ago - I've heard nothing on the matter since.
