ROMULUS, Mich. State police and the FBI are investigating the Romulus Police Department, but authorities aren't revealing what it's about.

Officials on Tuesday conducted searches at the headquarters of the suburban Detroit agency, the Garden City home of police Chief Michael St. Andre and his wife's tanning salon in Westland.

St. Andre tells WDIV-TV the investigation started three years ago and says he's cooperated. He says he can't say much more about it.

State police Inspector Garth Burnside has confirmed to The Detroit News, the Detroit Free Press and TV stations WJBK and WDIV that an investigation with searches is under way but declines to give details.

Interesting...............the FBI (it seems) never conduct a raid unless they have enough evidence to charge people with a crime.

Wonder what the police chief has been doing?

Officers getting paid for time they didn't work warrant's the attention of the FBI? And the FBI had to raid the police chief's wife's business?

Doesn't add up.

The guy probably owned a copy of the

Declaration of Independence

The bill of rights

Gadsden flag

or Navy Jack

And owned silver coins.

You know those are all things that make the FBI, CIA, DHS, blah blah blah look at you like a possible Domestic Terrorist.

I agree, it doesn't make sense......but, that is what the media was reporting from what I heard last on this issue. They are not going to report all the facts to us, especially when it involves police corruption, besides even if it were the reason these officer's were being investigated by the feds, it would not surprise me that the federal government would go and throw more money down the toilet as we know they are notorious for.

BTW, has anyone heard any updates on this at all? I did a search and nothing came up today.

ROMULUS, Mich. (WXYZ) - In the wake of a raid on the police department, Romulus Police Chief Michael St. Andre has voluntarily taken a paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.

Mayor Alan Lambert said on Thursday the chief’s leave would begin on Monday, and Sgt. Derran Shelby would take over as interim police chief.

Michigan State Police and the FBI conducted five raids on Tuesday at the police department, the chief’s home, the chief’s wife’s tanning salon business, an unnamed officer’s home and on a computer server that handles billing. Investigators wouldn’t comment on what evidence was seized or what prompted the raid.

Lambert said he was surprised by the raid since the city and police department have been cooperating since the investigation began more than two and half years ago. He said it was the city and Romulus police that asked the state to look into allegations after an internal investigation found no wrongdoing. Lambert said he expects Chief St. Andre to be back on the job when the investigation concludes.
