outdoor events: running, biking, etc.

Recommended Posts

Now that it's warming up, it's time to think about outdoor fun & games. :)

for the really hardcore, the Glass City marathon is in Toledo 2 weeks from tomorrow; probably too late to really think about preparing, though.

the Michigan Trail Marathon is in Pickney on May 1; there's also a half-marathon that day. Or you can take part in the 5-mile run the day before at the same site.

west side! the Solstice Run is in Northville on June 25. There will be:

a 10 mile run

a 10k run

a 5k run/walk

and something called the Maui Mile.

tech shirts to all participants. :)

register at: http://www.SolsticeRun.org

...and if you know of anything coming up, or just want to talk about cool local parks, please feel free to let us know.

I am so looking forward to the nice weather. I only recently started running so there's no way I could participate in the above events this year, hopefully I could do something like that next year. My family and I like to bike a lot. Last summer we spent most of our time in PA since my husband lived there but he's back this year and we need to find some good trails. Any suggestions? Does anybody know they name of the bike trail that runs over I-75 just north of M-59?

that trail is part of a long series (hopefully to become one long one) that more or less follows the Clinton River. From Pontiac west, it follows an old rail line until it ends at a heron rookery/nature trail about 4 miles west of Orchard Lake Rd.

Hopefully, one day it will go from Lake St. Clair all the way to Ann Arbor.

Thank You :) I biked on the Great Appalachian Trail last summer and it was also an old rail line. It was really cool because some of the bridges still had the old railroad ties under the new wooden planks and my son is obsessed with trains. The GAP starts in Pittsburgh and ends in D.C., we did not bike the whole 300 miles but I'd love to one day. Biking along the side of a mountain watching people whitewater raft below you in a rain storm is a memory I will never forget. I am really excited to check out the trail that runs along the Clinton asap:)
