Global Warming: Doomsday Called Off

Recommended Posts

Except that cows fart and the only reason so many cows are concentrated in the locations they are in is because of human domestication. Methane kills the ozone!

Actually the amount of methane they give off is trivial and most of it is trapped in their shit. The majority of methane is given off in the oceans as the sea floor heats up with volcanic activity and breaks up the chunks at the floor which has large deposits of methane trapped in it.

The only study where cows affected anything was done in Cali...known for their terrible studies that screw things up. All they want is their electric car back and in the process they have killed of tons of viable solutions for reasons based off of worthless studies...

If we REALLY want global warming to end we need to detonate a few well placed charges and watch California slide off into the ocean and sink.

I think that manmade global warming is likely occurring to some extent, but the effect is indeed far less than that of volcanoes, ocean cycles and the sun. That hockey stick model of global warming was indeed bullshit just as the video discussed.

I remember the screams about chlorofluorocarbons and the hole in the ozone.

Then there where the screams about methane and the ozone. People didn't listen to the part of the studies that said that it will actually slow down the depletion in the non arctic areas of the world.

Then the complete "Hole in the ozone layer" scam got debunked for being bad science that lined the pockets of politicians. One of the prime examples of why I am against laissez-faire capitalism. Over blow, lie about and smear your competitors product, so that your more expensive improperly studied and potentially even more dangerous crap becomes the standard. Possibly even make your competitors product illegal. All in the name of screwing the people out of another dime.

Jump a little closer in history, some of the studies that Gore was involved in getting funding for, got leaked and not only ended up showing they where ignored by him/his people but also showed that methane creates ozone.

Then there where the studies showing that 1. ozone goes up 2. the higher it gets in the troposphere, the slower it travels thus causing the surface death in the leaves of deciduous trees at high elevations.

Now based on the evidence we currently have, if I where to take a stance against "bovine methane" it would be strictly on the basis that we can harvest the methane and not only convert it to energy but prevent it from creating too much lower atmospheric ozone, which by the way isn't just bad for trees but bad for humans too. I would also be ignoring another fact.

If we stopped feeding the bovines food that they where not designed to eat, their methane production would drop. It would also have the consequence of producing tastier beef that is also healthier for us to consume.

But wait, there is more.

Bovine are ruminants.

ruminant from the Latin ruminare "to chew over again"

Physiologically, a ruminant is a mammal that digests plant-based food by initially softening it in the first stomach, then regurgitating the cud, and chewing it again. The process of rechewing the cud to further break down plant matter and stimulate digestion is called "ruminating". There are around 150 species of ruminants which include both domestic and wild species.

That includes:

alpacas

antelope

bison

camels

cattle

deer

elk

giraffes

goats

llamas

moose

nilgai

pronghorn

sheep

wildebeest

water buffalo

The general consensus seems to be that wile domestic ruminant numbers have gone up but the over all number of ruminants has not significantly changed because we are reducing the natural range of the others.

You also have the fact that man made rice paddies produce more methane than ruminants and reduce the range of wild ruminants.

Coal mining produces a helluva lot of methane too and it is been shown that if we stop the mountaintop removal/open pit style of mining flammable gas harvesting from tunnel mining could off set the cost difference.

Landfills and dams produce methane too as do wetlands.

Now as anyone who really know me will tell you, environmentally, stopping the destruction of our wetlands is my biggest passion. However, we destroy more wetland methane generating capacity than we replace with dam and landfill methane generating capacity.

I learned all of this stuff out of fear for carnivorous plants.

When you first start studding things like them they seem so environmentally delicate, but if you don't become a close minded fool you start to see that things aren't as fragile as they first appear. Here in Michigan we have a variety of Sarracenia purpurea living in conditions that as late as the mid 90's the "Experts" claimed was imposable. Carnivorous plants must live in acidic conditions. WRONG!
