People do tend to prematurely tend to declare themselves old. Almost every teenager I ever knew that was reasonably "smart" (when i was a teenager and still to this day) thought/thinks they were older than they really were, by the time they were 26 they were acting as if they were 50 but just were not getting the "respect they deserved", as if no one in history had been through the hardships they had (and then they'll recount them for you).

Now I have 40 year olds acting as if they are 110. :stuart:

I don't. I moved back to Michigan in 2005 and only then met in person the 95% of DGN'ers who had gotten to know me exclusively from the board.

I had never made any secret of my age on DGN. But the reaction from the majority of people I met back then was disbelief at my actual age (37), and comments that they thought I was in my early-to-mid 20's.

I still get this reaction from cashiers who card me for wine, doctors, etc.

Thanks, Parents, for the awesome age-defying genes. :D

But I do know what it is to feel much older than your age. When the chips are down, I feel ancient. Ditto when my health is at a downturn.

When I was a kid, I was the youngest of really accomplished siblings. This caused me to put self-imposed pressure to "measure up" that did sometimes make me feel older than my numerical age. But I'm long past that.

Oh - and heyaz, Dubh. ;D
