Is anyone else playing with this yet? Google hopes that this will be the facebook killer.

It has some decent usability features, some things to iron out so far.

If anyone wants an invite to it send me a PM. You can only join by invite right now, since it's not officially launched yet. This is for lack of a better term it's beta.

I use Chrome as my browser but have not tried this out yet (kinda like Google's overall style, despite their rapidly growing borg-like reputation)

(I like Chrome better than FF or IE but i'm going to have to switch back for testing purposes, just realized DGN looks like ass in FF, i used to check different browsers regularly but the differences were minor so i stopped... having just done so today again... holy crap, why did no one tell me .. ouch.)

Its unlikely i'll get into any new social networking stuff unless dragged, was dragged into livejournal (just as myspace was replacing it) then dragged into myspace (just as facebook was replacing it) now I'm "on" facebook but only occasionally use it. Will have to be "dragged" yet again into whatever it is that becomes the post-facebook generation.

Google+ has nothing to do with Chrome or any browser, really.

Also, right now they are only sending out invites because they are still testing it out in a small group so there's only a couple ways that you can join it currently.

Yeah that first part of what i said was just me rambling, which, is something I do and then people fall asleep reading my posts and don't get to the "bottom line" before their faces hit the keyboard waiting for me to get to the point. hah. The last paragraph is about Google+. My only point about chrome was that i tend to use Google products.

I follow most tech subjects fairly regularly, been reading about it on Cnet and other techy websites, webpronews had a thing that would let you try it, i just didn't. (see my reasoning above)

Amy got her invite and is messing around with it. I'll wait for her verdict before I attempt. I haven't got the time for all this social networking crap. The only reason I do FB and Twitter is because my phone mashes up the 2 and one widget updates both at once (then my Twitter is linked to my Myspace, thus succeeding in updating 3 sites at once).

I still have to get my profile at Nerdist.com set up so I can get constructive critism on my stand up. Plus, I kinda promised Chris Hardwick I'd do it. :/

SOOOOOOO much to do, so little time....arrrgh.

I have a google+ but I dont get what all the hub bub is about...

Anything that is viewed as a potential (serious) competitor to The Facebook, will, by definition get a lot of hubbub. Facebook being the primary candidate for the most actively used single intellectual property in the english speaking world. Not that I give a dang about it in and of itself, but from a media/culture standpoint it is very influential.
