Troy Spiral (13)
I was just talking to someone about GoBots and how they were pretty popular but then got upstaged by the more "polished" TransFormers. One distinction between the two that I remember noticing was that GoBots were actually partly biological unlike the transformers which are all robot. Another interesting change is that both are "translations" (and mixtures / recombination of several) of japanize products , rather than just a straight port from one language to another. Some of which, originally more like Mecha, that is , human piloted machines rather than sentient beings. Always wondered why the "mecha" idea (ala Robotech / Gundam ect) never really caught on. Interesting comparison of the go-bots toys vs transformers toys http://www.toplessrobot.com/2010/06/the_25_gobots_that_could_most_easily_pass_as_trans.php
