Compliments

Recommended Posts

Much like the "bragging rights" thread, people are often reluctant to share compliments they've received because it looks vain or whatnot. I figured we could all use the ego boost so share! What's the best or most creative compliment anyone has ever given you?

Mine is,

"Not wanting you should be the legal definition of insanity."

[Of course, there are a lot of crazy people in this world..... :erm ]

I've never really gotten any creative compliments, but I always get the same ones:

"You have pretty eyes,"

"You have nice boobs,"

"You have nice lips,"

"You have a nice smile."

There are a few other compliments that I get but I'm not going to go there, hehe :devil

Anyone who tells me that I'm beautiful has paid me the best compliment ever. I don't think I'm beautiful at all. I'm just me.

Ditto... I've spent so much of my life being told I was ugly/fat/etc while growing up, mostly from my own family or school kids, that I really struggle to feel attractive.

Me too, and I've only just learned to become comfortable in my own skin. Being told that I am beautiful is just a wonderful and shocking bonus.

It's completely self-serving. That is the point!

Brenda and Nienna, I totally understand...only one person has ever said I was beautiful, and it meant so much. That story is bittersweet though :tear

well the greatest compliment every given to me was "your the most prettiest girl ive ever seen" keep it in mind that it was by the cutest little boy i have ever seen in my life lol it was so cute and sincere. he couldnt have been over 5 years old, and well it was just so honest ...one thing i learned about kids is they are honest ... SOMETIMES BLUNTLY AND BRUTALILY HONEST LOL , i know he wasnt lying. As for men i hate it when they tell me that im beautiful.... because well i not ...and i know it. Dont get me wrong .. im not ugly or anything .. im just not beautiful and i just feel like they are only saying because thats what they think i want to hear ...

Compliments? What are they? I think i get one a decade.

Not sure i can share any "romantic" type compliments just now, just a bit to .... er... whatever it is that i am at the moment. :doh

But one sexy / funny one that was great:

Troy: "Why are you afraid of drinking around me? Doing something you'll regret? You dont have to worry about that..."

Her: "no,no... i just dont want to drink around you, becasue i wana be sober when i fuck you."

haha =D

"are you wearing contacts?" "No, these are my real eyes." "Wow! They look so.... cool!"

Some one talking to my kids at Miejers about me, "are you here shopping with your sis?"

"you want a pair of these boots for you AND your daughter? I thought you were 19!"

"are you thinking about attending school here?" a woman at my daughters k-12th grade school.

Then some one,way back in my past said to me " OMG!!!! you are TOO fucking hot to be a virgin!!"

*Thinking*

From a notoriously difficult prof: "I have been teaching for 30 years and you are in the top 2% of all my students...I would pay you to be in my classroom if I could."

When my date has eyes only for me despite abundance of other women who are 100 times as foxy.

I just beam when people love my cooking *must be some latent old-world gene coming to the forefront...heh!*

Most people compliment my style or mind - not my appearance... which I do appreciate *though there is always that shallow part that wishes I was riveting* ;)

Wasnt even thinking about school.....

I had a philosophy prof say durring a lecture, and i mean, right durring the dang lecture he stops and says:

"Troy's paper on capital punishment is the best i've read in two decades..."

Good thing i was taping the lecture haha. Was having a very rough time keeping all my work up to snuff that year, cheered me right up. =)

I've heard I'm a god, way to feed my ego...

The best complements are the ones that when said actually mean something and aren't just ego food though.

I've had people tell me they considdered me more of family than their own. They'd take a bullet for me. I'm one of the coolest people they've ever met. They like everything I spin. On very rare occasions "hey your outfit is cool" (or at the very least "nice hat").

My 5 yr old tells me i am beautiful all the time and i happen to know he is being honest cause he has told ugly people they were ugly befor. He has also lets me know when i am looking less then fabulous.

I was at work and a co workers 8 yr old neice was there and she shyly walked up to tell me i was pretty, i later found out she had been telling her aunt the whole time that i was and she wanted to tell me i was but was afraid.

I have worked in bars most of my adult life and compliments from men go in one ear and right outthe other, yeah they have bosted my self esteem but honestly after hearing how hot i am by a bunch of drunk fuckers for ten years it kinda gets redundent, and looses something. I feel most of the time thay are just trying to get in my pants. I have had the rare odd occasion when a customer would compliment in the most repsectful manor and proceeded to behave in a manor in which i felt they were sincere in those rare occasions i truly do apperciate those compliments.

I take compliments from woman highly especially if the woman just speaks it in a situation where it is not neccisary.

i was hugging my aunt one time and she said to me "grandma was right, you do give the best hugs" my grandma had told my aunt that about me and my aunt had told me that after my grandma died. i liked that compliment. :)

my brother - who is actually my half brother from my dad- told me once "you are prettier than my mom" i actually didn't like that he said that lol but i think his mom is beautiful so i guess it was a compliment. i thought it was sort of funny more than anything but i did feel bad too.

"you are a good listener, i can talk to you about anything" - i like when people feel they can tell me things and that i listen or give good advice. it makes me feel people know i care about them, and they can come to me when they need to.

people have told me i was funny and i make them laugh. i like that too if i can make someone laugh. but i have also been told that i am not funny at all - so i guess it depends on who you ask ;)

i like compliments about me that reflect on how i make OTHER people feel. (like the hugs or being funny or how i listen to them as just a few examples) i really don't like compliments about me that only have to do with me or something i can't help (like looks or something that i can't exactly control). i generally don't believe those types of comments anyways ;)

i forgot this one and it only struck me as odd so i wanted to mention it-

one time i was at luna (when it was 3d's) and this girl at the bar was staring at me so i looked at her and smiled and she told me i was the most beautiful girl. i was just shocked because she was far more attractive than i have ever been in my whole life and i was just stunned she said that to me. i think it was like what was mentioned here already - the woman to woman compliment. i don't normally like or believe those comments but this one just really hit me differently.

another time when i was pregnant with my son and up at the bar dancing this guy pulled me aside and said "i am not trying to hit on you or pick you up, i just wanted to tell you you were the most beautiful girl here tonight" he kissed my hand and left. lol.

for some reason i got hit on a LOT when i was pg with my son. i mean, it was pretty much regularly. at first i don't think people knew i was pg- i didn't even show for a long time. someone told me it was because they knew they could have sex with me and not get me pregnant. haha. nice.

when my son was in boyscouts i took him to all the meetings and it was me and all the dads, no other moms. so the kids would go off and do stuff sometimes and i would hang and talk with the dads. and they would say stuff like your husband is so lucky, you are a catch or whatever else they would say. it was one dad in particular and he would ask me weird stuff sometimes like do i regret being married or would i do this or that (basically would i cheat is what he was implying) i think it was his really weird way of hitting on me cuz he would compliment me, then complain about his wife, then compliment me again. then i got pregnant and he hardly talked to me at all. lol. i guess it should have been creepy but i thought it was really funny.

When I was pg with my son I had 2 male friends who were always telling me how beautiful I was. At the time I was working at Hollywood video and there was this one guy that always came in on Sunday and he told me I was a very beautiful pregnant woman!!
