I'm actually getting kind of annoyed with all the jokes. It certainly isn't shocking that this happened but it's still a tragedy. I might make jokes about my past because that's how I get though it. I could never joke about others for their issues, especially one that didn't have a happy ending. I wouldn't wish addiction upon my worst enemies but it's hilarious to everyone else

I agree with the jokes being tasteless but we always do this, don't we? Some celebrity dies, and the jokes come out. I haven't made jokes about this, but I imagine some people joke because they're pissed off, or disappointed. She worked so hard to get where she was, and then just wasted it all away. It's a tragedy when anyone ends up this way, but I think people hate seeing others with so much talent, beauty, and possibility go down like this. I have to joke to myself about losing Jen sometimes because I get so angry, and sad at the same time, that I have to remind myself how ridiculous her actions were so that I won't drown in my sorrow. I know when someone has mental health issues, and they get caught in an addition, no one can help them but themselves. When someone dies from an addiction, to me it says they could find nothing else in this world to make them happy, or feel good. Really? Gee, thanks! Now her family, friends, and loved ones are going to have to live the rest of their lives with feeling like they should have done something more, when the reality is there's nothing more they could have done. That's some big bloody baggage to have to hold for something someone else did, and it sucks.

**hugs to you Slogo!**

Can't say I didn't see it coming. I have no sympathy for addicts. It takes a first free-will try with any substance to get hooked, you don't just wake up "addicted" to something without putting it in your body first. What a waste :no.

I feel bad for her friends and family. Watching an addict decline is no fun, I've been through it many times.

I feel sorry for her family and friends, as I do for the friends and family of anyone whose life ended before their time, who have to deal with the grief and the aftermath.

I am not surprised at all, as it seemed obvious to me that this woman either had a death wish, or simply didn't care about her own life to put her body through that much abuse for such a long time. Her Rehab single, and her general attitude rubbed me wrong from day one, and I've never really understood the hype.

No no no.... it reminds me of the song "James Brown Is Dead" which was one of the standard rave tracks of the early 90's.

That's some random association, but I work like that too sometimes. I get teased about doing it, like I have a fictitious Random Association Disorder (meaning I'm RAD clearly...).

*shrugs*

Whenever I hear "__________ is dead", I actually always fill it in with "Frank Sinatra" because of the song from Party Monster by Miss Kitten and The Hacker. But now we're on a tangent, that would be a whoooole 'nother thread.
