DGN day at Ren Fest, 9-25-11! Now updated with place and time!

I'm upset because I can't go on the 25th. I'll be headed back up here and earlier in the day my unlce is baptizing my nephew. So I'm going on the 24th.

At CC, you can people watch, and don't have to talk to anyone at all if you don't want to. You can just blend right in.

I can vouch for that , I've done it for years lol. I actually have sunday's free now for the first time in I don't remember when. So depending on the weather I might have to ride the bike out. Haven't been to ren fest in years. 10am might as well be the crack of dawn though.

I enjoy people watching every now and then, but going somewhere for the sole purpose of it for hours on end doesn't sound like an appealing night for me.

Understandable. I actually end up spending a good chunk of the night dancing and reading as well. Troy gives me a hard time about the reading just about every week. I try to at least say hello to the DGN'rs that I recognize, but I have to push myself to even do that much most of the time.

I like reading but in quiet atmosphere. Not one for dancing. Im also quite fond of my cell, I'm on it right now typing this.

I'd love to meet DGNers, just seems CC is the only real place of interest.

Being Detroit based and gothic in nature is what attracted me here, not centered around a night club.

We have events somewhat regularly that aren't club based.

Renfest, sushi nights, laser tag, MANFAST (camping trip), thanksgiving party and so on. City is just the easiest, as it's the only thing going on during a Saturday night that we can do. Trust me though, there are always events in the planning stage.

There are a LOT of DGN gatherings that aren't official DGN events. For example, my wife (who I met through DGN) and I (another DGNer, obviously) hung out with three DGN members last night for dinner and movies, and we'll be getting together with 5-7 DGNers on Sunday to watch True Blood. So a lot of DGNers hang out a lot of the time but you'll never get to know these people and get invited to private events if you don't hang out with us and meet us at the public ones.

None of the things I listed happen at clubs or bars. On average, every other month or so - something happens.

Then much like Spook, there are a handful of DGNers I hang out with regularly outside of all of that. People I met because of DGN.

I would advise pushing it forward a day if you can, because the whole point of having a DGN meetup on the 25th is to have as many DGNers there as possible, and since a lot of people only go once a year, the 25th should be boomin'!

I can't go that day. It's my nephews baptism. That's why I'm going on the 24th.

Any suggestions on a meeting time/place?

As we're all meeting on a Sunday, and I imagine some people may go to City the night before, shall we all meet up at say, 1pm?

This gives people a chance to go early if they want, or to sleep in.

My memory stinks, but I'm recalling a mermaid statue near the front right after the entrance. If that's true, shall we meet there?
