Ok, Im angry at mainstream radio...they take a good song or the same 4 or 5 songs and play the hell out of them till the good song is overplayed and just started to grate on your nerves. then throw in a few commercials aimed at the masses. makes me sick

I dont listen to the radio unless im at work and forgot my ipod at home... I havent listened to the radio in years outside of work. Although I remember it being the same way when I did though. Having a 30 gig ipod on shuffle usually gets me through the day, Wish I had a bigger one though so I could put all my music on it :/

I don't know what you're talking about. I have my dial set to 90.9 FM and I'm treated to a wonderful variety of songs in a couple different genres and I don't think I hear a repeat in about 3 days. Sure, there are a couple favorite artists the DJs like to play, but they vary which songs get air time to keep things fresh. Great station; I don't think I've changed my dial in well over 4 years.

I can listen to any music I want at just about any time.

So the only use of the radio for me is Talk Radio, and the only two choices are NPR or Sports Talk (I'd listen to AM talk , but my radio doesn't pick AM up worth shit). So essentially its permanently on NPR, just due to no other legitimate choice.

please let me clairify, i was listening at work, 12hour shift, to 89x and its like a forced thing. boss has us under gestapo radio station lockdown lol.

Oh, well, I'm treated to seven hours of Doug FM five days a week, so I know your pain. At least your station has DJs. Doug is nothing but an MP3 player with a 2000 song playlist on random. Fun day: October 2 last year when "Wicked Game" played twice in a row.

One night on Walgreens radio I heard the same song twice in a row. I don't know the name of it but it mentions trying to catch a deluge in a paper cup and the chorus is, "Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over."

Only thing is, the first time the song played it was the original, then immediately after it was followed by the cover by Sixpence None The Richer.

As far as music selection goes, minus the all request hours i'll get those after. Music selection at a radio station like 89X or the Wrif; the music directors come up with a full playlist for the whole day, based on intrest at the station and mainly on what the general listining public likes, also whats popular at the time as well. So there's not much room for freedom once it's laid down, I want to get into radio so that I can change that a little bit and give the masses what ever they want as well as good radio shows. Now for Request hours at stations besides the playlist the director has already made if they don't have a song, most of the time they won't play it because lets face it THEY don't have it so they'll play another song from that artist.

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.

    • ~~~~~ Yeah, thank you for the check-in.   Happy to say it was all a misunderstanding.  But she pulled out her "ghetto" and that's when things went South.  I get very professional minded when I enter into situations like that because when someone starts bring the court into conversations, I'm in court 2 times a year, every year, so don't go there with me because I will get legal all over you.   She did try to change what she thought she might have said, but I had to call her on it because it's all in written text.  Then she apologized and we were able to have a decent conversation.   I know I joke about me talking so much that people don't hear what I say except for keywords that they are looking for, but that is exactly what happened here.  She heard "payment", "money" and "help out".  It was crazy.  I literally had to have the entire conversation all over again, but I definitely condensed it to only address those 3 words.   Things are back on track, but I emphasized that if she every needed clarification for anything, please say something first instead of jumping to conclusions, then questioning that conclusion, then answering that conclusion, then getting upset at the answer and taking it out on someone who doesn't have a clue what the San Juan Hill just happened.   But this is exactly the reason I do everything with a paper trail.
