Troy Spiral (13)
Ho Lee Shit. Cosmos without Carl Sagan is like Christianity without Christ. But I'm intrigued. At first I thought maybe it would be a clean-up of the video with new computer CGI and updated details on the (few) things that we know now that were unknown at the time of Cosmos. I'm a big fan of Tyson (Nova: Origins is on my short-short list of recommended documentaries) but hrmm. Being on fox is pretty scary, Hitler , Stalin and Rupert Murdock (he owns fox and they canceled Firefly... die die die) Really interesting though. And honestly if you haven't watched the "real" Cosmos (random person reading this) watch it, asap, like its something you HAVE to learn.
killyosaur
Actually I am pretty excited about it. Neil deGrasse Tyson has been, in essence, working towards being the Carl Sagan of the current generation, and shares a lot in common with the guy just from his enthusiasm for science. (He's also met the man as well, I believe he even as an autographed copy of one of Sagan's books as well.) Also, Ann Druyan, Sagan's widow, is attached to this project so it should stay true to the original vision of the series. Sure it'll be on Fox, but given the freedom that the successful shows have gotten (McFarlane's shows tend to have done well, and he has basically gotten away with plenty of anti-Fox rhetoric, same is true of the Simpsons), I don't see how it would necessarily suffer by being on Fox. It would be a completely different story if it were on Fox News, then I would worry.
