Release Date

Press Release

With their unique and formidable ability to combine very melodic, danceable electronics with haunting and powerful lyrics, electronic rock pioneers VNV NATION have built a massive fanbase, playing to hundreds of thousands of fans at both their own sold-out shows and major festivals worldwide. Their massive hits "Chrome", "Beloved" and "Illusion" are club staples that still pack dancefloors. On AUTOMATIC, their widely-anticipated new studio album, Irish/English bandmates Ronan Harris and Mark Jackson have been hard at work crafting the new album into something far more conceptualized and thematic than previous releases. Calling the new album an "Opus of Retro-futurism", Ronan has been streamlining the music, artwork, and imaging of this album into a concept that encompasses the industrialization and technology of late 30s America while embracing the technology of today.

(personally, continuing to lose interest in this band with each release, but do like the album artwork however!!!... )

This is VNV Nation? Eugh.. Sounds like their last 2 fails I mean albums.. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge VNV fan but they've lost their direction a long time ago.. Half expect Lady Gaga to cue in at some point in this soundbyte..

Agreed they lost their direction a long time ago. They've tried some new things and seemed to have softened. This album while not their best does focus in a bit better than those last two albums on some of those early key characteristics that make VNV unique. "Control" is a favorite and "Resolution" does very well at Industrial Wednesdays. Like a23 they continue to write good songs, albeit more predictable now.

Have you heard the Wintermute CD by Necro Facility? Amazing album you should check out if you haven't.

Empires was the pinnacle of their sound in my opinion, other tracks have been okay since then... but that one had a sort of simple and enchanting formula of energetic somberness that they have not managed to recapture.
