Introducing...

Gus ->gus.jpgAnd Isabeau ->isabeau.jpg

They're brother and sister, about 6 weeks old. Gus's name is just 'cause it sounded good. Isabeau was, of course, inspired by the movie "Ladyhawke". I walked into one of my vet's offices to make a payment and ended up walking out with them, after a phone call to my husband for an "o.k.".

Isabeau has a terrible upper respiratory infection we're fighting with antibiotics. If she doesn't respond to the oral amoxicillan and the shot she got Saturday, the vet will try a more aggressive antibiotic (we adopted them from him, so all treatment is free). Gus had it, too, but not as bad, and is almost over it.

Still, neither of them are much affected, save lots of snot from Isabeau and her having to breathe through her mouth. They're eating like horses (especially Isabeau), and both of them are getting along great with the others, especially Fletcher & Marty. And it's beginning to look like Asia is going to do the same with them that she did with Fletcher - treat them like she birthed them.

Isabeau sleeps on my pillow, tucked up to my warm head and nestled in my hair. Gus prefers Oakley's dog bed, which Oakley seems happy to share.

Now, let's just hope that once we're ready to move back to Michigan, we can find a landlord with a pretty open pet policy! :whistling:

And I must say, you're blessed to have a buncha pets who all get along with each other. That's so rare.

They're funny, how they react. The Alpha Female, Ripley, let's the know right off the bat that she's the queen, but then leaves newbies alone without undue bitchyness.

Grover & Lincoln are always the welcoming uncles. They've never had a problem with a newbie, and tend to make them feel welcome.

Xena liked a few of the kittens that came after her, but then took a totally different attitude once the ones that came immediately after her died. Now, she definitely doesn't like the new ones. But I've seen her challenge Ripley's status once or twice, so I think she's got a bit of "middle child" syndrome. Thus, she gets massive amounts of people-love, so she won't feel crowded-out.

Fletcher & Marty both had hissy fits over the newest ones at first, and now play with them like crazy.

And all the cats like to spend time in "Uncle Tuckle"s cage or playing tag around the living room.

And Oakley? Well, to him, it's just more growth to his herd. He's great - and some of the cats even like HIM. Particularly Xena, who will groom him and play with him, too.

Do you ever try to pile all of them on top of you and make a cat-blanket? I sure would.

It's fun to see how many cats we can see in a room at one time. It's rare, even in a tiny 800-squarefoot house, to have ALL of them in one place at one time.

However, the above does kinda happen at night. We keep it pretty cold at night, makes for snuggly sleeping. So they like to feed off our body heat. I usually end up with 3-5 of them tucked in and around me.

Isabeau in particular is enjoying the heat that eminates from the human head. She is fighting that sinus infection, so she cuddles up to my head, and actually nestles into my hair. Kinda like Pussyfoot does to Mark Anthony in the Warner Brothers cartoons. I wonder if she'll do that when she feels better.

Critter, I love that cartoon!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

My closet is full of Pussyfoot t-shirts. I could have gotten a Pussyfoot watch, but I never WEAR a watch, so I passed on that little trinket.

I even found a Pussyfoot Halloween T-shirt at Wal-Mart that only came in children's sizes. I bought it anyway, bought a plain black t-shirt and some felt, and made an applique out of the Pussyfoot screen and sewed it onto the t-shirt.

I was SO happy with how it came out, I'm going to give it a try with other things I find not in my size, like all those Emily The Strange-related cat shirts that only come in tiny sizes at Hot Topic.
