Why are people ignoring the awesomeness that is the Wintermute album from Necro Facility?

A) Because the unwashed, sheltered masses have never heard of it?

Q) What is the most "buried in the back, collecting dust, never listen to it, almost shamed to own it, but you can't bring yourself to get rid of it" CD in your collection?

1950's through 2000's

best decade for music?

A) Though the 80's - especially new wave - was "my" personal most popular period, I have to give it up to the 70's. Classic rock & folk were at their best - it's the period of music I think most people could really feed off, there was just so much diversity. Rock, folk, adult contemporary, funk, disco, etc.

Q) What was the first album/tape/CD you bought on your own? And do you still have it?

or

Red Hot Chili Peppers ~ One Hot Minute

What is your favorite band, musician or song you are least likely to admit to?

A) I'm not really ashamed of anything I listen to. But the following would probably fit the parameters of the question: Andy Williams, several albums of music box/caliope music, The Monkees.

Q) What does the highest percentage of your music collection consist of: Vinyl, Tapes, CD's, MP3's?

Increasingly MP3's with CD's a close second. Not so many tapes, most of which I don't even have laying around, or a deck to play them and very little vinyl.

What song would you want playing during the final push in a race; say a marathon or 5k or century (100mile bike race), or something of that sort?

MP3's currently number the most as I've shifted over to DJ'ing off a laptop as well as purchasing a lot of music digitally. Starting to see a LOT of digital releases months prior to a physical release (Death Watch Asia does this to much success). Or many releases are simply just MP3 now.

Preferred format is still compact disc. Nice to have an actual product and something to hold in ones hands. Love liner notes.

Most cherished is my vinyl collection. about 3000 pieces of vinyl and a ton of rarities/exclusives/autographed and just plain cool stuff.

Tapes are funny to me. Still have a few mix tapes that friends/girlfriends made. Love the idea of having two sides to tell a story. Hated when the tape would go "KaChunk!" and chop off the best song.

"obsessive engagement with the past makes it harder to invent the future!"

I think this is the question I should be answering...

A) In the general sense, if you place too much important on music of the past, new sounds will not be allowed to come alive.

In a directly "Critter" sense, I will admit I've reached a point where I really don't care for much current music, and it's making me dig into my back catalog more and more. Thus I'm starting to lag behind in the areas of new music and the future of music.

Q) How do you organize your music collection? Chronologically, genre, alphabetically, other?

By genre, though usually not at all. Most of my music collection is on youtube or in my last.fm band list to remind me that a band exists.

Why hasn't anyone taken a Bauhaus sound and mixed it with paced, aggressive DnB?

Check out

dead Virgin or Modern witch. The witch house genre may be of interest to you.

stupid genre name as it's just really dark goth with beats, but there's some substance in a few

bands if you dig around.

What blogs, websites, etc... do you all turn to for music news?

What band, in your opinion, broke up too soon?

A) The Beatles. I would have liked to have seen them take a break, get over their personal bullshit, and get back together and change the course of music again and again.

which one of your musical heroes would you like to perform with most?

aww crap, I keep jumping n at the same time someone else post...

Would love to work with Daniel Myer (Haujobb). He actually did show my old band Backspace some drum techniques/tips when we performed with them. The guy knows his stuff for sure.

My question is still open (see above)

The cowbell. A minute to learn, a lifetime to master ;)

Q) a song that ruined a perfect album for you and why?

Chrome by VnV Nation. The album wasnt perfect by any means, but god that song was so over played I can barley listen to ANY vnv now.

Which goth/punk band had the best mo/deathawk

You have a talent Mr Saint :)

This is tough because most of the albums I've got don't generally have songs like that. The exception maybe the Songs in the Key of X (a compilation of alternative tracks selected by Chris Carter, creator of the X-Files). It may have been my age, or just the insinuation of the song, and I still can't bring myself to listen to the whole thing, but Star Me Kitten (star being Fuck) by REM and featuring William S. Burroughs on the vocals. Just creeped me out for some reason.

What is a song that you feel defines you, either in part or as a whole, or you just think is totally kickass and should be your theme song?
