Rozzlyn - I have a copy of Japan's Assemblage you can have if you pay shipping.

The vinyl is excellent. The cover has some wear at edges, but otherwise is very good.

Want a list of what I've got? I'm not selling this stuff, just can't bring myself to get rid of it, even though I don't want any of it. It's yours if you pay to ship it. I can quote you shipping on anything you want sent in one package beforehand in case you don't want to pay to ship it. But it should be pretty cheap at media rate.

Assemblage was the first Japan album I ever bought. I still have it. It was a reccomendation from the hippie at the record store I usually shop at.

I didn't have any income when all this stuff was new, so I only got to hear singles on WABX radio. And the rare opportunity to watch MTV at a friend's house when they actually showed videos (dad wouldn't spring for cable for YEARS).

So I've been listening to these albums since picking up that crate last summer. I think I would have appreciated the music more if I'd gotten into it when it was new. Now, I'm mostly interested in singles I heard "back in the day".

I've got Sirius, and listen to their First Wave station most of the time. I'm amazed at the songs I hear that I'd forgotten, or heard maybe once or twice.

Ahh, the 80's. This is making me want to go listen to my Fixx albums, but all my vinyl is packed away, precious little that I have...

Rozzlyn - I'm on my way back to Michigan in the next few weeks hopefully. If you want those albums, say the word and I'll find a way to pack them in what little space I'll have in an 8'x5' trailer. Otherwise, I'll freecycle all of it.

Why am I so anxious to give this stuff away to a total stranger? 'Cause I appreciate your taste & collector's sense. And I don't like to pass good vinyl on to just anybody if I can help it.

Are you talking a collection or just a few titles you want to pass on? I have a lot more 1960s stuff than 1980s right now (I spent much of my 'teen years listening to The Rolling Stones and T-Rex), so i'm trying to build up my punk and New Wave collection. I'd be very interested in looking at your collection, if you can bring it.

As far as packing them goes, U-Haul sells boxes that are just PERFECT LP-sized. They're about $2 each and hold up to 100 well-backed 12" discs. You say your collection is "small" and that has me thinking "two boxes" -- my collection used to be over 300 titles until I lost a bunch of stuff in L.A. (some things were taken at a DJ-gig, others were nicked by a former "friend" -- this is another reason I'm trying to rebuild my 80s titles), now it's about one and a half. Around "three or four boxes", to me, is a moderate-sized collection, and more than four is large.

Rozzlyn, I wouldn't call what I've got anything CLOSE to a "collection". There are probably less than 100 albums that I keep for myself, and then I have this stack of about 50 that were in the crate and not worth my putting up on eBay (I tend towards items that are worth $20 or more).

I'll go ahead and list them by artist/title. If you want any of them, and need specifics on condition, let me know which ones. I'll do what I can in the little time I have here, but even that would be a nice distraction from all the godawful packing & cleaning I have to do.

Up for grabs are (excuse abbreviations & no caps, faster this way):

Psych Furs - Don't want to be your shadow plus goodbye (dance vesion) 12" single

Simple minds - up on the catwalk & waterfront 12"

Modern English - I melt with you /life int eh gladhouse/someon's calling 12"

Frankie gth - welcome to the pleasuredome

Repo man soundtrack

english beat - I confess/ jeanette 12"

depeche mode - people are people/peoplearepeople/in your memory 12"

duran duran - arena

china crisis - workign with fire and steel/fire and steel (mix)/dockland/forever I and I 12" single

gowan - a criminal mind 12" single

Band Aid - do they know it's christmas & feed the world (2 different songs) 12"

John Waite - missing you/for your love 12" single

Nik Kershaw - The Riddle 12"

Sex Pistols - bollocks - This is the only one in REALLY bad condition jacket-wise. Stained, etc. but the vinyl is PERFECT. Good if you can find one for sale with crap vinyl but good jacket.

OMD - junk culture

Hoodoo gurus - stoneage romeos

Japan - Assemblage

psych furs - midnight to midnight (Gads, they just look so sweet on this cover...)

The Lucy Show - undone

The Lucy Show - mania

Flesh for lulu - long live the new flesh

The church - self titled (unguarded moment, etc.)

OMD - crush

Killing Joke - revelations

divinyls - desperate

d mode - some great reward

d mode - construction time again

Church - starfish

pretty in pink - soundtrack

psych furs - self-titled (india, etc)

U2 - war

midnight oil - power & the passion/glitch baby glitch/wedding cake island 12"

suzanne vega - self-titled (cracking, etc)

General public - all the rage

blue zoo - 2x2

depeche mode - master & servant/set me free remotivate me/are people people 12"

d mode - a broken frame

PIL - this is what you want

I'm interested in these, that you have, If Rozzlyn isn't interested in any of them and depending on what you're asking for them:

PIL - this is what you want

Depeche Mode - some great reward & construction time again

Psychedelic Furs - all 3 records

I'm not asking anything for them. I'll just bring them north and give them away.

All to Rozzlyn first choice. If I have anything left, I'll let ya'll know once I'm up there.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That is so cool of you but, yeah being that they are free, there probably won't be much left...if there is, I will owe you big time.

Oh, I'm totally interested in those. Stuff by the Church and Midnight Oil I've always had a hard time finding (at least in the States) and believe it or not, I'm actually interested in looking at that Sex Pistols disc. SP vinyl just seems generally hard to find. At least the whole album, you can find boots and pic-discs like a fish finds water -- but you're right, if the cover is in bad shape, you probably wouldn't get much for it. The Pretty In Pink soundtrack and the Flesh For Lulu are also high priority Things I Want To Look At.

I'll PM you with my number and you just call me when you get back to Michigan. If possible, just bring anything you've got over to my place and I'll just take what I don't want to Paper Hearts at Necto the following Monday -- and anything he doesn't want will go to Encore or eBay (cos I'll sell almost anything on there).

O.k - I did read your PM before I read this, and I did jump the gun with the phone-call thing - see my PM to see what I mean.

No problem - I'll bring them all, they dont' take up a ton of space. I don't anticipate getting out to Necto too quickly, but CC will be a first-priority once I'm there. If we can do some kind of handoff that way, that'd work best.

We'll talk about this again once I've made the move.

I call it "Shitty Club" for a reason aside from it being some cute little pun. I don't go there -- and every time I've ever tried to bum a ride, it's been either a joke or a desire to just stand around and talk shit about the patrons all night. I really do despise that place and the fact that it's a bleeding cess-pool unto itself. The music sucks, the vast majority of the patrons are vapid and completely devoid of any value (and the few who aren't either, for some reason, actually like the music or are just trying to get laid). Furthermore, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if that syphilus ooutbreak in Detroit a few years back could be traced directly to that place -- I mean, it is filthy enough, it's probably a home to all manner of cooties.

That's probably because you've never had some frat boy stick his hands down your dress and then had the untrained "security" say "not my problem if I didn't actually see it."

Back on Vinyl...

Yesterday, I picked up The sacred Heart by Shakespear's Sister at PJ's Used Records.

I almost paid fifteen dollars (after shipping) for it on eBay and then remembered that I saw this at PJ's about five years ago. Now, normally, that doesn't mean anything, but PJ's is possibly the Ann Arbor area record collector's best-kept secret, so I figured "what the heck?" -- after all, it doesn't cost anything to look for it and I was planning on going down to PJ's anyway (needed oversleeves). It was still there (though it had been moved from the bins to the back wall) -- or, at least, another copy had popped up. $6 and instant gratification.

Of course, I didn't mean that I support that kind of thing (although, I do like having my ass pinched by young ladies...). I just like it, to frequent a notorious house of ill repute, a place of 'unspeakable' debauchery. If there were a place 'worse', i'd go there too. -Not that I go around groping people-
