Gothic issue on gothic site... woah.

Penn and Teller did an episode of Bullshit on Boy Scouts, saying how they've went increasingly conservative and biased against Atheists and gays. I could see the scouts in general having bias against anything too liberal. They could be classified as community outreach, which is unfortunately dominated by Christianity.

When I was a young teen, I briefly joined a Girl Scout troop. Around that time, one of the girls - a daughter of a devout church-goer - quit because she got preggers.

And a long-time friend was a scout in a troop led by her dad. There honestly wasn't anything wrong with the dad being a troop leader, but the friend was known to sleep around and even quit school for a while to shack up with a guy.

The scouts are full of hypocritical bigots, and always have been. This sort of thing is not surprising. But I laud her effort in taking a stand.

I'm going to have a scout dork out for a moment lol. First off unless the counsel asks her to step down she doesn't have to. And they can't without justification. If she is the leader and her co-leader has a bad feeling involving her personally then the co-leader should switch troops. Although I can understand the troop leader being totally pissed off about this in general that she even had to deal with it in the first place. But overall Girls Scouts needs an overhaul to modernization in some ways. I was in it clear into high school and unfortunately it is still written in the basic outlines to be super conservative in a lot of ways.
