They Might Piss Me Off But...

Recommended Posts

Many people can really rub me the wrong way, even though outwardly I'm pretty self controlled. But, some people just can't seem to make a point without being abrasive in the process of making that point.

BUT, at least they HAVE an opinion and care enough to think about it rather than the typical "whatever" mentality that seems so popular. I can respect that in and of itself.

I can respect that even If i totally 100% disagree with their point. At least they GIVE A SHIT enough to think about things / form opinions about what I'll oversimplify as "non fluffy" subujects.

I realized this awhile ago, that even people that really rub me the wrong way on such things, after a few moments of contemplation, I'm glad they are there for the most part , people that spend time thinking about this stuff are in the minority apparently and we need more involvement not less, and when I say we I dont mean DGN I mean the world.

There are certain topics that I'm in the "whatever" group and then there are other topics that I'm very passionate about.

Yeah I think we all have things we dont care about, just I think some people are so.. lets call it "uninvolved" in reality, that they are "whatever" on almost everything that isnt directly related to them or some sort of dancing bears. Pure entertainment only please, dont bother me with anything reality based! haha (Don't get me wrong I can be a hardcore escapist, I just dont WANT to be.)

To some extent, its definitely good to have opposition in life.

Sorta keeps you honest, if everyone agreed with everything we'd not have much incentive to check ourselves for errors (even though I try to proactively, its not realistic to assume we'd do it with no one giving an opposing viewpoint)

So uninvolved that they believe manufactured "truth" being spoon fed to them when they make their attempt to escape surreality even though it is obvious obfuscation intended to keep 'em in la la land.

Prime examples:

How many people know what building 7 is? It was reported.

How many people know how many explosive devices where found in the Alfred P. Murrah building that where as big as the one that detonated? It was reported.

How many people remember that Condoleezza Rice told the 9/11 commission Bush ordered invasion of Afghanistan a week before 9/11?

Most times I would rather see someone say "whatever" vs arguing because the laws of reality mystically changes whenever the media says believe.

Yeah, unfortunately the general population regards anything on the news as "It must be true". It's sad because my mom has succumbed to this thinking. She has been a loyal Fox News Channel fan since 2000. I was even suckered into their lies at first. Now I understand if I hear about it from Fox, or ANY news network, it's probably semi-truth laced with lies and biased opinions, to make you think a certain way. Ever since I first noticed it with Fox, I've seen it with EVERY other news network out there. Fox is just really bad about letting their "hosts" express their own opinions in such a way to convey it as "fact" when in "fact" it's a bunch of horse shit.

I don't understand how people hear something from 1 person or source, and they assume it to be gospel and, if you question them, they say "Nonsense, it was on the news, everybody knows that.. " .. Well, sure, it was on the news. But did you bother to cross reference ANY of the story? Or are you just going off of what the news lady told you this morning?

I say it starts with school. They teach you in school to learn and believe all the things in their books. However, they don't teach you to question authority. No, nobody in a position of authority wants you to question them, thus they will not teach you how to question them. Critical thinking? Not in OUR schools.

Just as an example my 4th grade teacher threatened to send me to the principal's office because I argued with her. That year there was a solar eclipse, she claimed that we couldn't look at it because the UV rays emitted during a solar eclipse are more harmful than looking at the sun on a regular sunny day. I argued that her logic was wrong, that the sun doesn't magically get brighter because there's an eclipse. I said it's because the sun appears darker, people think it is doing less harm, when harmful UV rays are still shining in our eyes, unknowingly causing damage. I swear this is a totally true story. She got so upset and red-faced because I "Questioned The Teacher". Of course, being in 4th grade and not really knowing any better, I shut up and let her "teach".. But now that I'm older, I'd like to have a nice long discussion with her if I ever saw her again.
