Is Canada the World's Next Superpower?

Recommended Posts

From Siren's article:

We took a closer look at our neighbor to the north, and this is what we found: Canada has the 10th-largest economy in the world. Its unemployment rate is 7.6%, compared with our 8.3. Canada has a Triple-A (Eh!) rating. And, after the U.S. delayed the Keystone pipeline, Prime Minister Stephen Harper went to China to discuss redirecting its oil (Canada is the sixth-largest oil-producing nation in the world) to the Pacific coast – where China's ships are waiting.

Its difficult to see , since currently the next countries in like to possibly be traditional superpowers (Only the US right now) China, The EU, Brasil, India, Russia are all in line before our beloved neighbor to the north. Superpower being more than just the economy (if that was the case California alone would be in line before CA) but also in military might, population and political reach, all of which are lacking in comparison to the previously listed.

Interesting though, I always wondered why CA never seemed to grow in the same way that other "first world" nations have in terms of political influence, my guess is that its a product of being nice. Wish more countries had that reputation (and got respect for it).
