Fierce Critter
I have to admit - I owe DGN a big fat "Thank you." I got stuck over a relative's house on Saturday - ALL FREAKING DAY. And I have a massive amount of work to do to get some auctions up on ebay to pay the freaking May rent. I ended up bringing stuff with me to clean up, iron, and describe. The relative has an ANCIENT freaking computer with Windows ME, and some godawful version of Netscape on dial-up. Knowing it would be something like this, I at least prepared to bring a blank CD-ROM in case they at least had a CD Writer. And forgot to bring the disk. I got through over 35 item descriptions before I realized I wasn't going to be able to save it to take home. So I get on the internet. OMG. I couldn't bring up gmail. I couldn't bring up AOL mail. I couldn't bring up facebook. I couldn't bring up Myspace. I couldn't bring up ANYTHING that would enable me to copy/paste the text into a message or e-mail or anything... ... until I tried DGN. A couple tries didn't work. And what comes up under circumstances like that is pretty freaking horrible on-screen. But I was able to sign-in, and copy/paste the text as a response to one of my own posts. Checked DGN on my phone, and yep - though the posted response would not show for me on the computer, it did show on the phone. So, thank you, DGN. You really came through for me, ole' buddy. Troy Spiral (13)
I've had similar experiences to critter over the years , althought not exactly the same. From a social standpoint I know several people that seem to say things like "with other DGNers" and they are talking about people that the met directly or indirectly via the "DGN Cloud" even though they may not have been active on DGN proper in ages. Its almost like (some) people use it as a informal club, that has no meetings or gatherings, but still implies some sort of meaning to them.
