LadyKay
A few months ago my husband who has been without health insurance bought some from a well know insurance company. He made his payment to them (which was not cheap) just like he is supposed to do. A few weeks ago he made a dr. appointment because he felt something just wasn't right. The dr. thought that he could have diabetes and order test to be done. Today he got a letter from the insurance company saying they will not cover the cost of the dr. visit or the testing because they claim it was a pre existing condition! This is crap! He has never been tested for diabetes! How can they claim that it is pre existing condition? So much good it does to have health insurance. What he paid out to them could have gone to this medical bill that they refuse to cover which is around $1000.00. Bunch of crooks! I want the money back from them so I can pay this freaken bill! They can claim anything is pre-existing, AAA claimed my freaking symtomps from a closed head injury were pre-existing lol (which you can fight, but its not fun). Lawyer time or, due to the pre-existing insurance bill they tried to pass not passing, there is "affordable pre existing coverage" (as a response to the watered down bill that did pass mmuch later) plans subsizied by the government you can get. That IS crap though. How long has he been on this coverage? This is individual coverage? (which I know is expensive as hell). There is HIP Michigan To qualify for HIP Michigan you must: Be a Michigan resident; Be a U.S. citizen or Lawfully Present in the United States; Have a documented medical condition present within the last 12 months or have been denied coverage due to health conditions; and Have been uninsured for 6 months prior to submitting your application. <--- this part is craaaaap but you might be able to get around it if you call them, not exactly sure how that works. Glory13666
I don't think it should be considered pre-exsisting if he had never been diagnosed before but of course they're gonna try to avoid paying whatever they can. Health Insurance sucks!

Health Insurance sucks! Wouldn't work properly unfortunately, insurance rates would be even more ridiculous than they are now. Lets say I hadn't been to a doctor in 10 years, I'm going to probably have something pre existing. Like.. heart disease or liver disease didn't just spring up the week I signed up for the insurance, regardless if no doctor saw it before. Its really frustrating though believe me I know. Which, is inevitable, which is why they've been pushing to have this "preexisting" nonsense go away and/or somehow have insurance overhauled so such things dont make the cost of it skyrocket and are covered. But how to do that is mystical without screwing over some other part of the economy. It does suck. =(
