Psycrow
Why does everyone assoiate Goth with Techno or "industrial". Im not trying to knock any heads or put down anyones music, but goths dont listen to techno, those are called "ravers" and we finnally got rid of most of them at the City Club, PLEASE dont encougage them to come back. Us goths come from Europe, as a goth your free to listen to whatever music you want, but we decided Black Metal is our music of choice. Im sure most of you know of Cradle and Demu, but in Europe there considered sissy ass posers. If you wanna know what kind of music us real Goths listen to check out Mayham and Immortal, there two of best Black Metal bands of all time. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy "fishing out" to some good techno from time to time, but not every single weekend. I hope I dident bust anyones bubble. Troy Spiral (13)
i just try to let people listen to what they want to listen to , without judging them negatively for their music choices. Some of the most kind, helpful people i know, listen to music i dont like. =)

mallochai
could you please tell me who this us and we that you speak of are because i would like to know who decided what type of music goths listen to <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ditto, especially on the black metal note. for instance... i like so called "goth" music, but i'd never, ever, EVER listen to say... Cradle of Filth by choice, or pretty much anything that involved the word metal. To me, goth is a lot of things. bauhaus, peter ulrich, in the nursery, black tape for a blue girl, the cocteau twins, joy division, the smiths, tones on tail, the swans, cranes, the cure, clan of xymox, unto ashes, dead can dance, blah, blah-blah, blah blah. but I digress. and there's nothing wrong with a little techno influenced music. think of merge, wolfsheim, cruxshadows, and many many many more that simply don't come to mind right now. so you go ahead and listen to black metal, tell the rest of us we're pussies (if the band you listed is considered weak, as a black metal band, those goths must not have heard any of the stuff i listed above which is often commonly known as "goth music," or they probably would have had aneurisms). whatever floats your boat dear fellow. kellygrrrrrl
I think being Goth is more than the music you listen to. Also such as being Punk, or Jock or WHATEVER. I think it is more "Attitude" and "Fashion" statements that make one "Goth" or A Raver. Not so much the music associated with being "Stereotyped". If I were to Label myself, I would say that I am probably considered "Conservative Punk/Goth" if there is such a thing. I listen to Punk, Industrial, Techno, Metal, Black Metal, Radio Pop crap, Funk, SOME and very little Rap, Disco, EVERYTHING! Yay.
Daevion
Technically no one is really "a goth" anymore....but your are partially correct, they did in fact originate in europe. I mean if there are some actually Visagoths still in existence please post a link or something. The whole music scene thing is fickle at best...people use and re-use new terms everyday....people love to label and classify things, the human mind is a terrible thing. phee
Anybody ever heard of "Graver's"? I just like the term... I try not to lump Goth/Techno/Industrial into any "groups" rights/territory... If you wanna dress a certain way but listen to square dance good for you! If you like Skinny Puppy and Sisters of Mercy's music but wear overalls and flannel.... Woot... CC belongs to anybody who likes to go...
Paper Hearts
i have, Seachalyn (sorry if i misspelled) was telling me about it last week. Sort of Gothic-Raver...like VNV. It's growing on me.
Scary Guy
Anybody ever heard of "Graver's"? I just like the term... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have and agree, thats what I group all the gothic techno/EBM/synthpop people into. The people who like the OONTZ! BTW gothic is as I've been saying for a while now, a state of mind. An appreciation for the darker things in life. Therefore the darker it is, the more gothic it is. This again does not mean it has to be depressing, just dark.

DarkVampire
What's a label? Another form of limiting people to a certain group or stereotype. Screw labels. I am what I am and nothing is going to change. I wear black, write depressing poems have a facination for vampires does that label me a goth? A weirdo? Or perhaps I'm not goth since most of the time I dress "normal" and don't go around with pale makeup. But back to music. I recall seeing the term black metal which is heavy metal about worshipping the devil and bullshit like that. Bands that belong in the genre are Venom, Bathory and Mercyful Fate to name a few. I hardly call that gothic music since goth has nothing to do with worshipping the devil. Whats wrong with techno? Hell I listen to all sorts of music from Anthrax to Wagner to Rob Zombie. What I listen to ro what I dress doesn't change who I am.
