CC Afteramth - Reports?

Recommended Posts

Was out in the car and holy shit some people actually decided to have manners this week and return phone calls / texts for once. I might get spoiled haha.

Another weekened of having a decent time but overdoing it, hard to know when to keep "pushing" myself and when not to.

Amazing how many people sound totally convincing and "excited" that they are going to come say hi on DGN, and if maybe 1 in 8 of them actually does its a miracle. Odd phenomenon.

Got a long speech from two seperate people about how the community is getting smaller and will continue (the detroit community) without some actual effort to grow it. First time I can remember being on the receving end of that hah. Several conversations about how people need to get involved or the already anemic scene is going to just fade away. I've been hearing this for years, but it is (and has been) a problem, especially when many of us are being too busy worried about "the good old days" rather than trying to just accept the way things are, and maybe educate a few people here and there about whatever it is they like. Thats how you grow things, well that and not giving up / expending some energy. Was good to hear some positive feedback / educated commentary rather than just complaints. Made me feel good.

The usual apologises for forgetting names. Honestly between the poor lighting and my eyesight without glasses in dim lighting and the mild brain injury that is still not totally fixed unless i actually talk to you with a real conversation either online or at the club and clearly "see" you, its hard. But it doesnt mean I don't care or dont WANT to remember. (the dim lighting is probably the hardest part , battling it out with the overstimulation of all the noise and such)

I brought a notecard... but forgot the damn pen lol.

Went to city bites after and a fairly extensive conversation with two nice , longtime CCers.

Stormknight - In town yay. Was good to see you/have a "real" conversation. Hopefully it wont be the last time.

Cat Cyanide - Sorry for not recongizing you... again.. i suck. (see above) I hope things are going well with you.

Doc Colony - Good talk. Hopefully we can get some things going.

Riku - "riku!" "hand up" not our most intimate discussion but after last week I can't complain. =)

Saga - What do you wear under the metal? T shirt? Been meaning to pay more attention.

Not brown hair pulled girl - Was actually looking for you. Apparently its red (I suck), but the dim lighting / black light could make it look. Was nice to see you again, however brief. :flower:

Deka - Yay. Super friendly guy as always.

A whole ton of other people I'm sure I'm failing epicly on, but I'm feeling kinda sick should probably stop typing for a bit, maybe some random nap/true blood will fix it.

Had a fun night, Danced for at least an hour straight thanks to the fantastic DJs. Learned that apparently I'm "The mean one" on here. Lol, Thanks Troy. I agree this scene needs a new breath of life, somehow.

Don't mind me my wise ass humor doesn't always come off right, but I mean well. Honestly I do.

Mainly to grow the community 1. have to ignore arguments between personalities and promote everything (or almost everything) eventually. 2. Keep people that are interested in such things communicating together (the decent peope that don't screw things up) (facebook, like myspace and live journal before it doesn't do this well, as its a "random scrolling list" that causes people to be more insular and not involved in the scene, even though its "fun". Its amazing how like 5 minutes a day of the course of a month can get people thinking about getting back into something, but it takes time, and can feel like work.

Unfortunately all of this takes a lot of effort. (or not that much for some people that find it "fun") Just what little i do is essentially a 30 hour a week unpaid job, but its fairly meaningless if its just me (or even just a few people) there are people out there that care, just re-involving them, or involving them for the first time is the trick. I've seen things grow and shrink many times now, and this is always the process. Just staying "mildly active" helps grow things, as no one wants to eat in an empty resturant. (online or offline) Which, includes promotion which can rub people the wrong way but there is no way around it other than to just quit.
