0pheliA
I am heading out to pick up a new machine (Laptop. 17.3" Quad Core) I always name my computers after fictional computers, trying to figure out a name for it. Current Laptop is Mycroft Previous was Synergy All my Desktops have been iterations of Teletran Considering Holly, but unsure. Anyone have any other suggestions. Purposefully avoiding Hal. 0pheliA
Colossus is actually one I had on a backburner for my next desktop. M5 is suitably nerdy and tempting
Simon Bar Sinister
Greg Bear's novel Moving Mars had an artificial intelligence named Alice as one of the characters. Speaking of AIs, how about Gigolo Joe from the movie A.I.?

0pheliA
I get to name your old lappy. I need to figure out what I can name it. His name is Mycroft. Named after the computer in Heinlein's "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress", which is itself named after Sherlock Holmes brother.

0pheliA
Its kinda like the comparison between you and I. You are badass but lazy, I'm brilliant and dynamic!

But like Mycroft, when properly motivated, I preform magic. Just a lot of work motivating me.
Troy Spiral (13)
Glad you found something... not that I've ever named any of my computers, but I know many people that do. ('formers fan, have read every nearly every Heinlein book, HOLLY! lol (red dwarf)) First thing that popped to mind was Trillian (hitchhikers guide), but that doesn't really fit with the rest of your choices. If I were to pick a fictional computer from Hitchhikers, I'd name it Earth.
Troy Spiral (13)
Neromancer has a lot more "street cred" anyway. Strangely not all that many people have read it, and its a book i recommended a ton, so U know it must be awesome. lol
