Founded July 27th, 2001 Originally hosted on EZBoard (now Yuki) as a forum for a radio show I did on 89.3 FM The Troy Spiral Show (A Talk with lots of goth/industrial music) After years of looking I could not find any local , friendly , centeralized place with a theme like this anywhere, so i figured I'd just have to make it myself. When I did that, I realized I would have to be in it for the long haul, or not do it at all. The last thing I wanted was some fly-by-night website that populates so much of the internet. At that time there were only a few email groups on this (local) subject/theme and they were all fairly unfriendly to newbies and very aggressive (lots of people calling each other "fags" and such). With the exception of the DIAG (now gone) which was not for discussion which was just focused on "news" intentionally, which while good to have on DGN, was not what I was looking for. Quickly (less than a year)It was obvious to me the community be better served having the board become something more generalized than The Spiral Board and it became DGN. Funny how even then, before the board was barely a old year into it people were complaing "its not the same as it was in the good old days!" hah. At its height we had 600-700 posts a day spread across hundreds of active users due to very active promotion and help from the user base of various sorts. My goal always was to get it to 1000 (legitimate) posts a day, which we never quite got to. Hopefully one day. Anyhow hopefully DGN will continue for years to come.
