Can Some Answer This Rechargeable Battery Question For Me?

Ok dumb question but here goes. I bought a battery charger. A good one not some cheap o I just picked up. I bought some rechargeable batteries. Good ones too. So I put the batteries into the charger and charge them to full power. The thing is is that I don't always need them right away. But I need to have fully charged batteries when I need them. But even though I fully charged them like a week ago. When I go to use them, they are not charged! I have gotten very little use out of my rechargeable batteries because of this. Most use I get out of them is putting then into the battery charger. So I find myself buying non-rechargeables now and then because I know at less they are going to work when I need them too. Can anybody tell me why my rechargeable wont keep their charge when not in use? I mean what is going on here?

I am not sure if this is the same situation, but I have to use a storage/rechargeable case.

I recharge the batteries, remove them from the charging prongs, but keep them in the case.

As long as I keep them from cooling off too much, they are good to go next time I need them.

However, I do a maintenance recharge every few days or so just to make sure they are full.

I hope this helps.

Temperature can have a big effect on battery life, though I've always found that keeping them cool helps. I'm wondering though, if the charger you bought is actually actively draining them?
