Troy Spiral (13)
Yesterday I went to the general practitioner for a problem with my stomach (and coughin up blood... no big deal, fairly regular occurrence) , for some unknown reason this time she decides to take an X ray, something odd with it apparently. Then sends me to the tummy doctor (actually got an appointment the same day, hey, miracles happen! The stomach doctor sends me to the hospital today, (the mild implication from both doctors being that I might have a problem, maybe both lung and stomach cancer or something). Ass ton of tests later... Final answer regis: B. Stomach Cancer The lung thing was some kind of scar tissue from something that must have been wrong a long time ago apparently. Troy Spiral (13)
I was sort of in a fog through all the tests and such but apparently its this: Surgery to remove the stomach (gastrectomy) is the only treatment that can cure the condition. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy may help. For many patients, chemotherapy and radiation therapy after surgery may improve the chance of a cure. For patients who cannot have surgery, chemotherapy or radiation can improve symptoms and may prolong survival, but will likely not cure the cancer. For some patients, a surgical bypass procedure may relieve symptoms. Apparently I heard some vauge talk about how they might not have to remove the whole thing as long as the tumor is in a certain area and not progressed pass some point it might not really be that huge of a deal. Usually I tend to assume they give you the worse case scenario so they look like geniuses if it works out, so I tend to be somewhat optimistic. If not , I'm Fed. So in that cas it might not really be a "gastrectomy" just some sort of "tumor removal". But , they did throw out the realistic posiblity of having full-on cancer. If thats the case, fuck it. I'm out. I didn't really get the whole story, (and wasn't really with it anyhow) and they'll explain it to me better on monday. Nooooooooot doing chemo. Honestly the depression and nightmares from the PTSD I have been dealing with scares me more than this does.

Nate Kriepp
Definitely bring someone with you that you trust to do the thinking. It's hard to absorb what's going on when it's about you. Holy hell, I know I'm somewhat of a total stranger but I'm wishing the best for you. Nienna
Troy, as one who has been through the whole cancer / surgery / chemo thing twice now, I can say, try to hang. It was not pleasant, but I'm alive today and so glad I persevered. I'm here for you, I know how you feel and will suppirt you however I can. For the gastrectomy, I have the same surgery (85% removed)so I can talk to you about that too if you need it. *hugs* I know I've been out of touch for awhile, but I do still care, and want to see you pull through this. Shaun
Visited him today and he said the cancer was entirely benign so that's over with. However he's now dealing with some personal issues and probably won't be able to get online for a while. He's doing ok though.
