The 80's

I was never aware of the 80's. But in the 90's I was drinking soda, playing Super Nintendo, Sega, and N64, and many of my friends hadn't left the state or died. Electronic 80's music had made its way into 2D gaming and would later lead to its present resurgence as an online scene. As a kid I would be the one to play Sonic the Hedgehog at my babysitter's because I was able to get the farthest, to the second level. There was Grunge and Punk rock that wasn't shitty Pop Punk, where social commentary was more important than fashion. Raver junkies had somehow managed to put candy out on the market. The economy was thriving under Clinton. Internet culture hadn't hit on top of that good economy so people's social circles were actually real and they didn't act as much like assholes. You had to go to a rental store to rent the latest movie on VHS and assholes never rewound. And because lack of present Atheist pressure, if you were a punk or a goth, you could scare the shit out of a lot of people-- myself included, because at the time I believed in bible stories.

Wow...now I'm missing the 80's again. I just got over this last week, but with shows we grew up with now being called the "New Classics" and the world's first music videos aired on MTV now referred to as "trail blazing" it's starting to make me feel rather seasoned. But the world was disconnected and possibilities felt endless. The ideals of "moving forward" were fresh and new and the future was uncertain, but we reached for it. I know they say history repeats itself, but I doubt if the world will ever be that innocent again.

I tried to start a hair band a few years back in order to bring back the 80's but no one was on board with me. lol It's funny how the only station that plays music videos anymore is Vh1 classics. Well, I think there's a reason that there's a lot of people that still want to see the old videos instead most of the music out there today.
