well my divorce will be finalized on the 19th of this month and i have to show up at macomb county courts .. i wonder if he will show up he really doesnt have to but i swear if he does im gonna need to cop between us so i dont go over and punch him in the face! for all the bs he put me and my daughter through. i am kinda scared to cus i dont knowo what to expect .. i asked for full custody no joint only supervised visits through CARE or myself or my dad cus he was charged with child abuse 4 and domestic violence. but only pleaded out to domestic violence. ( downriver court ssytems are fucked in the head) i really dont want him seeing her at all cus of the past abuse but its all up to what te judge will decided.. she will know that i was in a domestic violence shelter for a month while working trying to find an apt up here in macomb county. and i hear she really throws the books at dead beat dads which he is hasnt even paid child support yet.. anyways im just rambling on and on i guess i just wish i could have someone to taljk to about my fears in all of this blah ttfn

Well, this is the best place for letting it all out. It's how I was able to cope with several issues I wasn't truly aware I even had. As for your court appearance, the major thing is when you see him, stay as calm and collective as possible. Show the judge you are the correct parent for the responsibility of raising a small child. The fact that you were in a domestic violence shelter proves that you had the good judgement to try and get you and your daughter out of an unhealthy relationship. That also shows you put personal safety above all. Educating yourself and providing a safe haven for you and your little one goes a long way with the court system...been there... Just remember to get everything out of your system before that day because the more level headed and clearly you can process the proceedings, the better. From the way you present yourself here on DGN, I must say you appear to already be headed in the right direction.

Kudos
