Stepdaughter's Child Allergic To Almost Every Food.

Recommended Posts

My stepdaugter's little girl who is 6 years old is allergic to well almost every type of food. So much so that a few weeks ago she ended up in the hosptial for being undreweight and undernourished. I have a theory about how this came about. When her daughter just started eating real food. My stepdaugter restrected her diet to the point that she was only allowed to eat a handfull of foods. She was not allowed to have milk or bread and a whole list of other things. They came to Thanksgiven once and while I allowed my daughter to eat whatever food she wanted to eat, my stepdaughter had to bring with her all the food that she would allow her daughter to eat and did not allow her to eat any of the food that the rest of the family was eating. She was only allowed to eat a small cups of peas and some fruit and hardly anything else. Now she is 6 years old and has a whole slew of food allergies. I said I wonder if it is because when she was just starting to eat food that she was not allowed to be exposed to things, and now that she is older and being exposed to more food items that her body does not know what it is and maybe that is what is causing her to have the reaction. Possible? Maybe?

That is exactly what happened. Over a decade ago, there were parents restricting their infant's eating habits, actually putting them on weight loss diets. So many parents were doing this that a press release appeared on the news and in newspapers instructing the parents to stop doing it. Several children actually died.

Infancy to early childhood is imperative to the proper development of a child's immune system. If prevented from being around other children or eating certain foods, or even encountering various animals and plant life, the child's system will be unable to cope with any alterations to the child's environment. Allergies can also be developed within the womb if the mother is overly cautious of what she is exposed to. Cigarette smoke is deadly to people. Imagine the damage it does to a developing unborn within the womb relying on only one source of oxygen.

Unfortunately, these allergies have been known to persist throughout the child's life. Some children are able to adapt and live normal healthy lives. I pray this is the same for your granddaughter.
