pixiefae
I guess it would really depend what you're shopping for. For work clothes, I prefer Von Maur. The one in Ann Arbor does markdowns on Thursdays. For general bumming, clubbing, I go thrift.
Onyx
Thrift shops in West Michigan stink. No selection at all. I find the ones in and around Detroit are great. I picked up three velvet dresses for under $25, took me about 15 min. to find. They had lots of mens clothes too.

But we have Hot Topic in the malls.
Ginevra
Thrift stores to be sure. Check out the clearance racks at your local department stores as well (Target, Meijer, etc.) Also, inquire as to what days they mark down which departments so you know when to look for certain items. gothicmom
Here and there. I don't pass up a store just because it's......like the gap or something. There might be something neat int here. I bought a cute pair of hot pink capris at Banana Rpublic!

DarkVampire
Thrift stores? Hmmm give that a try. Most of my clothing shoping has been done at Meijers. :fear
pomba gira
eBay. Some of my favorite sellers are Holyclothing, TwinkleTwinkleLittleStars, Curvy Queen Couture, Rhonda's Fashions, Mad Foxes, & that woman who sells all the cool Doc Marten's. The only brick & mortar stores where I buy clothes on a regular basis are Value City & Target. I like Ashley Stewart, but they don't have any up here.
