No Christmas ?

Recommended Posts

I've never really "done Christmas" before. My family never celebrated it, and I've only ever really gotten 1 non "stocking stuffer" type gift in my whole life. (Growing up I had to leave the room in grade school if there was any Christmas stuff due to my parents being strict Jehovah Witnesses , I'm not but they were.)

This year I was thinking about trying to actually involve myself with Christmas, (I'm totally broke) that I might see, have hinted about what I might like for Christmas (and I've been trying to scrounge up some money which is non existent to try and buy things for others). Its a bit awkward for me to just say "this is what I wan't" or just link my amazon wish list (which is basically just for my own use). I'm also a bit of a shut in so just sending stuff in the mail (or receiving stuff in the mail seems un-Christmasy isn't it?) Not really sure what to do.

Dude, share the list. When I was on base I received all my Christmas gifts via mail. So do share!

I've been reluctant to respond to this message , can't seem to hit reply without feeling like a beggar.

But you guys seem so nice and accepting... here goes... try not to laugh too much.

...Well, I tried looking up the wish list by name...by any chance is "Drake's by Hostess 10 ct Coffee Cakes with Cinnamon Streusel Topping 11.5 oz (Pack of 6)" part of your wish list? That way I will know I have the correct Troy.

oops. Apparently you have to get the link from a specific spot. Fixed now. http://amzn.com/w/U6SSG4LCVRF7 There are no Coffee Cakes on that list but they sound good! XD

Seeing as I'm broke , I guess the only realistic thing I can send to people is cards. Crazy , with this PTSD / Anxiety / Depression mix it gets hard to even just write something down on a card. I guess I just make a blanket post asking for addresses... actually thats a bad Idea, If i get 50 random people I won't even have the money for just cards. Ugh, being broke and nuts is frustrating. lol

I myself am fine with email Christmas greetings. They don't cost anything and they give me as much joy as a card in the mail. Some of them are even funnier. We all have too much "stuff". Well most of us do as I know some people don't have much at all. I do remember a Christmas only a few years ago when all I could get my daughter was a box of candy cans, and coloring book. We did not even have money for a tree. This year is better but still she is not going to be getting what she asked for as it is wayyyyy too much. Okay so I don't know why I am telling you all of this. But this year I am simply greatfull to be living in a place that has heat and food.(and internet) As I have been with out both only last year. So anyway, I see nothing wrong with gathering email addresses and emailing a Christmas greeting!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Thats a great way to look at it. I try, but I have trouble being positive about being broke. Essentially due to me having a good career before the car accident and now I just "feel" like a loser not being able to afford anything for myself or other people not even simple things that were basically trival costs before. I know it wasn't my "fault" but somehow my emotional side and my intellectual side can't seem to listen to each other. Thanks for sharing your insights. :)

I don't really do Xmas mostly but I am trying to this year. I didn't put a tree up or nothing but we had a party at work and tonight I'm doing a secret Santa thing with my girlfriends, April, Jonie, Tif, The Renee's, my sis and Amber. We will be having pizza and beer and will most likely discuss some reality show they watch like Real Housewives of Atlanta or whatever they are watching now, dead friends, and how dudes...yea..and I am probably going to cook on Xmas eve for me and my kiddos.
