I seem to be "up arrowing" tons of posts even if I don't agree with what they are saying. (The little up arrow in the bottom right of every post)

On DGN the "up arrow" is not an agreement or a "i like this" what it means is "I appreciate you taking the time to post this"  that is the extent of its meaning.  But it is NOT a "like" button (really wish that stupid heart wasn't there)

The idea being "thanks for posting this content even if I don't agree/like what its talking about.   Without moderately decent posts we'd have nothing to read.

I suppose you guys use it how you want to, and I'll use it how I want to.  I like the upvote idea and I wish there was a downvote option (although that would probably work out badly for me, I still don't care.)  I don't think it should mean "I appreciate your post" because then I'd feel really unappreciated way more than I do :p.  I also appreciate everyone who posts, even if I don't agree, and I don't want to hit that button every time someone does post, nor do I want an email notification every time someone sees my post.

Really if you want to change its meaning stop calling it an upvote is the first thing that needs to be done.

Although, if you really want to change its meaning you don't have to recode anything.  All you need to do is edit the image file to something else, and maybe if you want it to say "thanks" or something then expand the bit of code that defines the image size.  The heart is probably the same way with just a number overlaid on top of it (yep) so that could be easily changed (or just completely taken out) as well.

I've noticed that it limits you on how much reputation you can give in one day.  I was kind of stunned by it because I've got sooooo much reputation to give in life.

Should only be limited for users, just so (I assume) someone doesn't create an account and upvote evey post they ever made (not that this would be a catastrophic issue.  I'll look into that.
