Fierce Critter
I'm not one to care what "current" trends are, or even if what I personally like is or isn't considered "in style". But while I'm going through this "in between" stage of growing my hair out, I'm wondering if, for club visits & other "dress up" occasions, I should crimp my hair again. I used to do so in the early to mid 90's, when my hair was shoulder-length and layered. That's when I was at the height of my "punk" days, and when I got the most compliments from others at CC and stuff. I crimp it, and then do a "towel rat" thing which kinda gives me a Robert Smith look. Actually, come to think of it, MUCH more a Simon Gallup look. I tried to find some good pics online of Simon "back in the day" but these were the best I could find in the time I cared to spend on this: What do you think? No offense taken at anyone who thinks that look went out with jelly shoes & tube dresses. If I really feel like it, I'll do it no matter what anyone thinks - I'm rebellious & punk that way. mallochai
I think: awesome. I've wanted a crimping iron for years, just never had the money and thought at the same time.
Guest Megalicious
There is nothing wrong with jelly shoes lol ... crimping ... it looks really good if you do it rigth ... I think youll do fine ... and if you dont like it really its just a crimp ... you dont have to wear it like that all the time ... I hate that inbetween stage of growning out hair .. I think thats why my hair has remained short for 8 years . lol
Vivian
FC~ hunny, you always look good, dont worry about it. If you want to crimp your hair, then do it.. I just recommend you use styling gel and mousse, to keep it from going all poofy. Edited for "gel"!! and mousse *guh im tired lol*
Nienna
I LOVE the crimped look. I got 2 crimping irons at Goodwill a few years ago. One is the sharp, small crimps and one is a more wavy, bigger crimp...

Fierce Critter
Wow. I'm a little surprised that people aren't down on the style as outdated. Poo. Even Simon cut off all his hair in the past few years. Gads, what a bummer for my eyes!!! Anyway, not like I'm going out all that much here, and almost never in my preferred punk style. But before moving back north, I'll hunt up a new crimping iron, and will see you at the club in my full, fluffy glory. Oh, and Vivian - what a damned nice thing to say, particularly since I don't think we've ever met F2F. As for product, SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS is the sound of a crimping iron being applied to a lightly hairsprayed section of hair. I got good style by doing it that way, and then only separating & fluffing slightly with my fingers. Never even applied a pick, it worked great that way.
