Also keep in mind that everything submitted will have to meet approval and everything media-related that is written about is preferred to be obscure or at least uncategorisable -- think Virgin Prunes, The Fall, Japan, Dexys Midnight Runners, Japan/David Sylvian, Danielle Dax, Adam & the Ants (bands); "Manos": the Hands of Fate, Cannibal!: the Musical!, Shaun of the Dead (movies); William S Burroughs, Hunter s Thompson, Tom Wolfe, Caitlin R Kierinan, Poppy Z Brite (authors).

I'm not looking to start another "goth/industrial/deathrock" e-/zine that gives the same killer reviews of the same Cruxshadow, Voltaire and Bella Morte albums and writing reminisces of how cool Siouxsie was at that show in '87 when you bumped into her in the ladies' room.

LuLu -- I'm specifically thinking this is something you need to be a part of. I'd really like you as a regular contributor or even "staff writer" (which, in this case, basically means that I'll expect something from you for each issue).

Cross-Posted from my LJ:

http://www.obscurealternativeszine.com

I've been working on a web-zine lately, soon to be launched in September, and while, in theory, I can do it all myself, I'd rather not as I have other projects that require my attention as well.

We are currently seeing the following kinds of articles:

* music articles of any kind

* short stories

* book, album and movie reviews

* gadgets and games reviews

* counterculture/subculture overviews

* obscure, strange and weird historical topics

* lifestyle articles including pieces about pets and petcare, queer/GLBT issues, religion, life-after-/university, political parties/current events, activism, sex, some feminist, veg*n and parenting articles and almost anything else WEIRD.

All articles will be read completely before publication and edited for grammar before coded for the site. (But please don't use that as an excuse to ignore your spell-checker — the spell-checker is your friend!)

If the article(s) you send fit the feel of Obscure Alternatives 'Zine, we will e-mail you with the tentative release date of the issue it will appear in (usually the next issue). Keep that first part in mind — we reserve our right as a publication to pick and choose which articles fit our publication.

People who submit with the intent to become regular contributors are preferred, but I will never turn down a really swell article by somebody who only intended their contribution to be a one-time thing.
