Recommended Posts

The Gathering 31 at The Red Apple Restaurant & Inn

32711 Michigan Ave, Wayne, MI 48184 <--- Directions via Google

7:30 Thursday, October 6th.

Really Big Sign Hard to miss.

A casual dinner time gathering in a "Denny's like" environment.

Club Attire Encouraged but not Required

GLBT, Fashion Models, Cosplayers  Goths, DGNers, Ex DGNers Re-Goths, Goths for a day, Horror Movie and Sci Fi (especially SW, ST, BSG and GoT ofc fans.) MTG players. Ingressers.

The spiritually inclined, Science & History buffs. General weirdos.

Totally normal open minded people.

All welcome.

Like all DGN events this is NOT particularly kid friendly*.

Hope to see you there! Please invite any and all you think might be REMOTELY  interested!

Bring a good attitude! Please help Invite! If you want a card ask!  If you really want one ask here in this topic.

*like DGN itself , this is not "kid friendly". You can bring them but No F-Bombs will be held back.  No sexual innuendos (or straight up sex talk) will be spared.  If you can't get a sitter and your kids are not SUPER well behaved leave them in a kennel at home with food & water.

Maleficent.jpg

This is NOT the place to post about how you're going somewhere else , or doing something else or intentionally not coming or some other BS.  Thanks.

That being said, Please help us get the word out!

 Looking forward to seeing you!

If you would like one of our weekly "The Gathering" cards (Some Examples). Ask in person at The Red Apple <--- key step.

*If you really want to make sure you get one. Just ask here (not in the FB page, that will be futile) and make sure you show up before me.   Some time after I walk in the door and whoever has asked for a card (here) has priority. **

Cards Fine Print

**If for some reason there are not enough cards to go around  (There are typically only 7)

1.  Ask at the gathering for a card (first come first serve, with the below exceptions)

2. If your name is not in this topic I'll hold off until someone  who does have their name IS in this topic asks for a card.

3. Asking in this topic means you have priority over someone who has not, everyone that asks here will get one before someone who has not.

4. I'll hold one for Permanent Benefactors until its clear the aren't coming if they've asked here.  (If you are unsure what this is don't worry about it or have a look here)

5.  If you've asked here , just ask at the gathering and you should get a card with no problem.

6.  The order in which you ask here is not necessarily first come first serve unless there is somehow a "tie" asking at the gathering, then the order you ask here would break that tie.

Hopefully none of the above will be super necessary and there will never be any drama over the theoretically "for fun" cards.  (there never has been)   :)   But please request a card HERE if you want one.

Asking for a card. I love my collection. :)

Glad to hear it.  Honestly I struggle with "make the cards still or not" when I can't give away 8 cards for free.   (Just a function of how many people show up and maybe like 1 in 3 have a real interest in the cards).  Which is fine.  Just get this "wasting what energy I have , sinking feeling" sometimes.  Probably irrationally.

Just think, that makes more cards to offer for auctions and such...

So I lost my wallet... the moment i realized it was lost the phone rings... Seemingly random girl calls me "i don't want it to sound like im stalking you but..." (turns out its one of the girls that works at the doctors office I go to) she in turn was called by someone that found my wallet and the only number in there of someone that seemed like a real human was hers (shes sort of like my "case worker" but at my GP.)

The second woman that actually found the wallet is a social worker that works in livonia. Good thing this nice woman found it and not some douche. Supposed to go get it tomorrow. All good except how Im going to manage to fall asleep and get up at a time that normal humans get up at is going to be tricky. One of my many awesome illnesses is stupid crazy insomnia. Anyone have a sleep/pain/wake up/happy/blood thinner/happy/new breaks pill that works super fast ?

The Gathering cards are going to be a bit MORE rushed this week

Thank goodness your wallet was found, but I am assuming you need to get up at a time that works for her getting it back to you...have you ever tried NoDoz?

Also, you know beggars can't be choosey so don't fret too much over the outcome of the cards. We appreciate any and all effort you put into them. You could put DeeGee on one side and a half eaten apple on the other and that card would still be just as cherished.

Yesterday I had an invasion - some dude welcomed himself into my closed in front porch and I told him to get lost. Then last night, I had a break-in - dude came back and helped himself to my 1995 Wayne Gretzky Roller Blades and ransacked some boxes. All this happened while I was sitting in my living room. The culprit is the drug house next door to me that no one will do anything about until a "true" crime is committed.

I just finished securing my front windows, but with all the extra attention to my property, we are contemplating if and when we should leave for the Red Apple tonight.

I sadly will not be there tonight due to a stubborn migraine headache. :-( However, Frank should be there and please give him my #2 card.  Troy, the cards are awesome and I enjoy my little collection!  They are also great conversation starters! I miss you all and will hopefully be there next week.

Tron, that is horrible and frightening...please stay safe, my friend.

Thank you. I just wish I had had my Remington nail shooter with me. It looks like a gun and it loads gun powder shots, but it just happens to shoot nails, but someone moving too fast to notice the difference would see the barrel of what would appear to be a gun.

My god that's scary! I'm just glad you guys are not hurt...that is so terrifying to be right in the house while a stranger walks in. I remember that happened when I was 10. My mom just had my brother and she was in the bedroom feeding him in the middle of the night,  I fell asleep watching TV in the living room and I happened to wake up and see this strange man go towards my mom's room...my brothers dad was in there with her and the baby too but a few seconds later I hear my mom screaming "GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE "...he dashes back towards the backdoor.  About 6 months later we are walking into a neighborhood swap meet,  flea market whatever it is called and my mom walked up to this dude who was with a a few other big men and she just say, I know who the fuck you are " he acted stupid and she just told him I know that you are the mfer who came in my house!  He denies it of course and she just said..."yea? Motherf#(€er?"...and she walked away head held high. ..she was no bs. She didn't care he was a big dude that knew where she lived. I will never forget that experience.

Sorry for the long post but when I read that happened to you it reminded me of what happened when I was a kid.

As far as home invasion goes a good shotgun takes care of most of that.  Just racking it scares off most idiots.  If you hear that and don't run that was your warning shot, and there will not be a second (although if you're feeling generous you can load the first with salt shot so it stings like hell.)

Anyway so much drama this week!  Even I was affected as my car finally died on I-94 on the way to the Apple.  I just lost acceleration power and pulled off to the side.  Shut it off and tried to start it a few times.  Had a courtesy patrol come by to check on me three times (well one was the first guy who lost his work phone).  Jenn showed up and we got Moe from my car to hers with a small bit of hassle.  When she fell though she hit my doorlock and I had my key in the ignition (which my keyfob refuses to work when it's in there) and my wallet was in there with the spare key in that too!  So the tow truck guy did lockout service before towing my car to the mechanic.

Many thanks to Moe for being along for the ride, Jenn for picking our asses up, and Bobbie for taking our asses home after dinner (yes I still went!)

The mechanic called yesterday (after I called them with no pickup) and asked what happened and said he'd call back in an hour with an estimate.  He never called back and I tried calling yesterday at just after 5 (I think they close at 6, but anyway there was no pickup again.)  I guess they're good but we'll see.  I just hope it doesn't end up costing me a ton, or worse.

Yikes. I was so rushed that day I missed this. Fuck! That is horrible. *huuugs* !

One thing I would do is take pictures of everything if you haven't yet. And if you call and bitch they will send patrol cars to just 'check for suspicious activity' without actually stopping at the house. I've read articles that talk about just having 'police presence' helps keep crime down to a measurable degree.

To me that sort of break in makes me feel 'violated' in some way , was the last straw to me wanting to aquire a fire arms.  (Statistics be damned that say more guns just makes it less safe...I now just like them. But there are no kids in any of my households which might worry me a bit...them getting ahold of them that is)
