Tokyo has been snowed in.  As of 9pm Monday night Tokyo time, they had 21cm or about 8 inches of snow with more coming.  By 6 a.m. Tuesday, snowfall could reach 50 cm in the Hokuriku region facing the Sea of Japan, and 40 cm in Hokkaido and the Tohoku, Kanto-Koshin and Tokai regions in northern, northeastern, eastern and central Japan, the agency said.

Here is a vlog I follow showing the snow.  Wish I was there.

大雪!!! びっくり!!!!!

Another reason that this makes for a very odd situation is that the rails are heated in Japan.  So usually, when the weather is bad, the trains are always running regardless.  You can literally set your clock by the country's transportation system so I am sure there are some who think it's the end of the world right now.
