I am thinking about how sad will be seeing a friend since childhood laid out tomorrow and that his kids shouldn't have to be going through this already and how his poor elderly mother should not be burying her son.

I just did one of those dna test for myheritage and the results take awhile but I broke down and got my own because I'm driving my kids crazy about their's lol.

Anyway, the heritage has that dna family tree and it starts letting you add family it also pulls public records and I had a surprise this morning when it found my dad's article about his crime and death from 1998 and I reluctantly reviewed it and it brought back a slew of memories and feelings that I would like to keep buried but thus, here we are. I remember it like yesterday now.

Well, it's over.

 

Last year I was finally happy that people on the block had started talking to me and I even started conversing with them and helping with their yards despite my people fear.  But it wasn't to last.

 

Midday today, I got blasted with the accusation that I called the police on my neighbor's vehicles that were parked across the street in a lot he had told me that he owned (which is the only reason I was cutting that lot for him).  Nevermind the fact that the City sent out an ordinance stating that vehicles parked on the grass will be towed at the owner's expense.

 

Today, I requested that he move a trailer bed with a car on it that belonged to him, but had been blocking my driveway apron next to my house for the past nearly 3 weeks.  He began talking about it being a public street and that he didn't see a driveway and how it was a vacant lot and some other stuff.  I side that I owned the lot, but didn't have the money to put in a driveway yet and that if I don't put one in soon, the city is going to come and take my driveway apron away.  He began walking away, quoting parking ordinances and then said that because I had asked him to move his vehicle that I must have been the one who called the police on his parked cars because he side the police kept coming back to check if the vehicles were there (on City property).

 

At first I thought he was joking and I said that I didn't know anything about that I just wanted him to move the trailer back 10 feet.  He didn't like what I had to say and went on a tirade about stuff that I had no clue about, but apparently I did it because I live on the block, across the street, multiple houses down from the vacant lot he was parking in that belonged to the City of Detroit.

 

Trene stepped in to defuse the situation because I lost my mind.  All the decades of accusations from all the other neighbors (past and present) that had been directed at me simply for being on the block, just exploded and I was out there making a total spectacle of myself trying to clear my name.  But all that does is make an accuser feel more justified in their blind truth.  I left it alone.

 

My feelings are hurt.  I don't care about any of those people anymore because it's like they are just sitting and waiting to blame me for something else that they don't like that happened to them.

 

My trust for anyone on this block is now gone and I am physically drained and embarrassed.  My mind keeps replaying the entire event and will continue to do so for the next few hours or so...because that's how my brain works.

 

I'll try not to let this consume me because I could be THAT person they accuse me of being, but then that would backfire because they would be like, "I KNEW IT!!!".

Sounds like a real moron!  Don't let one idjit sour you on everyone.  Sometimes what's going on with someone isn't about you, you just happen to be in range.

You and Trene were absolutely correct.

 

I contacted another neighbor (who is up on all the rumors regarding me) and they said he was in a dispute with the City lawn cutting service for having his vehicles in the lot (that he does not own).  They got into several arguments and the guy called the cops on his vehicles.

 

He took out his frustration on me because I'm female and he's afraid of men.  He just wasn't expecting me to go off on him.  At the time, I was more hurt and shocked by the allegation than looking like a screaming Mimi in public.

Also, my neighbor was so angry about the situation that they almost couldn't speak clearly for a few minutes.  I must admit, that surprised me because I'm not used to anyone around here having my back, with the exception of immediate family members.

Well, things definitely got scary there for a bit.  I accessed my removable drive on a device that had a forced upgrade to Windows 11.  The drive was stated as having a corrupted recycle bin then began to systematically remove files from specific folders.  I'm not certain how many folders were affected, but one folder for the entire statistical data collection for 2024 showed as empty and another accessed folder had files deleted for all of September and most of August before I disconnected it.  It appeared as if the drive was being reformatted, but wasn't trying to save or backup any of the data on it.

 

So now it's time to rebuild my desktop to preserve the data that remains.

 

Since this was a rebuild from the massive decade worth of data loss prior to August 8, 2018, I'm not feeling as devastated as I did back then.  Sadly, it's beginning to feel like business as usual.  The good news is that with my last Micro Center run, I purchased multiple drives for specific purposes, one of which is strictly for backup data.  I just wasn't quite sure what direction I wanted to go in regarding the new hardware installation, but this incident has definitely steered me into a specific heading.

Testdisk is an amazing data recovery tool.  It's possible it could still find that data.

How it works is the information isn't really gone when a file is deleted until that space is overwritten with new data, so it's possible to recover that data until that happens.  Even most of the simple data recovery services just start with that.

Also Windows 11 sucks, for multiple reasons.  Get yourself a copy of "Windows 10 LTSC" and it shouldn't force the upgrade (or just switch to Linux Mint which is much better anyway and can run most of the same programs or at least an analogue equivalent.) You can also turn off the forced upgrade option with Win10Privacy too, which is basically just a nice user interface for a bunch of PowerShell commands and Windows Registry settings.

If you ever want a hand with it let me know, I'm fairly good at what I do.  @Stucan attest to that.
