What Are You Thinking? (cont'd)

This cat is about to make me lose my mind.  She has all the intelligence of the Velociraptor Blue from Jurassic Park.  It's a good thing I raised her from a kitten, but all that will guarantee is that she won't intentionally try to claw me when she gets her nose out of joint.

I'm going to go sit on the dock outside with my cigarette and sing like shit and if any of the boat dudes get offended I'll just tell em I'm a busted Siren.

Make sure the girls are in a pushup and they might actually jump off the boats to swim to you.

From what I remember they don't care too much as long as it's not any racist/Nazi shit.  Just don't be too obnoxious with it.  There are few, but some historical club artifacts that it would be a dick move to deface.  Classy punks have at least some respect for those, but true punks wouldn't care.  I get both moral codes, but side with the first because history should be preserved.  However I'm no body's keeper and people will do whatever they want to do.  If they really wanted to protect those items they'd be behind plexiglass.

You know it's a different world we live in when being harassed by Robo Calls and auto generated bot responses are just a part of everyday life.
🙄

I answer and tell them to remove me from their lists.  It works.  They know their scams wont work on me so they wont waste their time.  Rarely do I ever get one.

Sometimes I mess with them just because.  Eventually they'll automate it all though and take out the human element so it's just AI that keeps trying.  That will be an annoying time indeed.

What you say might work if there was actually someway to "tell them to remove me from their lists".  The Robo Calls we receive are the ones that check to see if anyone is at that dialed number.  If you pick up, it confirms you are there and the Robo Call has done its job.  The next call is from the telemarketer.

The auto generated bot responses are just stupid all together.  If I want to contact Customer Service for certain bill pays or purchases, I have to use the "Chat" feature as there are no live operators.  The bot can only understand certain things and WILL NOT move forward until ITS criteria has been satisficed.

This morning, I was in a back and forth with the CVS bot that is doing a countdown on me regarding days left to pickup meds because it is not in contact with the bot that schedules deliveries.  I can't afford to be removed from that list because it's the only way to know when the meds are ready since CVS stopped doing real person courtesy calls.

It's a catch 22.

By the way, we still utilize a landline.

No I'm speaking of those ones too.  Getting a no pickup only means "try again later" but getting a person they will mark you as not being a viable mark.

Sometimes you get the automated voice and it's "Press # to speak with an/our agent/representative/whoever now."  Sometimes they get angry but fuck'em I don't care.

Alternatively there's organizations like 419eater who just waste as much money, resources, and time of the scammers as possible so they can't trick anyone that might fall for it.  If they're dealing with you that takes time from another mark.  So what I do may benefit me, but it does not benefit others and may actually be a detriment to them.

Also you mentioned a landline, which aren't afforded the same telemarketer protections under the law.  Also a lot of them target landlines since it indicates the user is either old (only has a landline,) rich (has both a landline and a cellphone,) or is a business (which has access to more money than most regular people do.)

We ditched ours years ago, and as a bonus bought our own modem so we could stop paying the rental fee.  Now we just have two cells.  We had Bluetooth handsets in every room but after my mother passed we got rid of those too, but those worked well.  Pair the cell to the base station and then all the handsets ring and it tells you who's phone is ringing them.  Also now I can leave Bluetooth off to save battery life.
